CFS nd Antiobiotics

CFS nd Antiobiotics

My brother has had CFS for 6yrs now. He is bedridden from it now and has been for last 2/3 yrs. I want to try and find out if he can get any antibiotics from the UK or USA without a prescription. His doctor has been very unhelpful so we are trying to research this route of help now. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated, he has all the usual symptoms of not sleeping hardly at all just resting for short periods, bloating and pain after eating, severe muscle wastage we think is down to the illness but not entirely sure! He can't watch TV listen to music etc. I have done much research for him to try and help he has tried acupunture and various supplements such as Carnitine, Q10, Zinc and so on. Mainly I need to find out can we get antibiotics anywhere without prescription or any other treatments. Many Thanks Michelle

Sorry to hear how unwell your brother is.  He is lucky to have a sister to help him out.  I know how fustrating it is to try and get well.

There is a lot of different theories out there.  And there is a lot of new exciting research going on with the new retrovirus just found.  But if you are trying to help on a do it yourself basis you may want to read Dr. Teitelbaum's book From Fatigued to Fantastic.

To me, the book is an easy do it yourself guide. There are some parts that may require a script from your doc, but for the part you can do it on your own.  I am just starting with the suggestions, so I can't tell you for sure how well it works.  I just thought maybe it would be a starting point for you.

Hope it helps!

Hi Shelly, your brother is so lucky to have a supportive and loving sister like you.!!!

Antibiotic treatment may not be the sole answer for ME/CFS puzzle.  Without knowing specific virus, beteria is involved in his system, I wouldn't suggest using any antibiotic without doctor's supervision, especially if you plan on long-time treatment for him.  It could do more harm than good.

Most well known doctors in this field would offer a treatment plan instead of grabbing straws here and there, since ME/FS is such complicated illness and really need to be cared for as a whole person.

Very best luck to you.....Happy Thanksgiving huggies

When you say severe muscle wastage do you mean generalized from not being able to do anything or in specific areas?

I understand what you are asking about the antibiotics.  I have no proven diagnosis and antibiotics help me greatly.  My problems may be related to lyme as I have had the rash and pulled ticks off. Fortunately I have a doctor who specializes in FMS and prescribes them for me.
