Can fibro go away??

Hi

I saw my rheumotologist the other...he said it appears my fibro is gone. How is that possible?
I wasn't in to much pain when I went to see him but I do hurt.
Has anyone ever been told this?

Oh, let me see.  I was house bound for 2 years with no income trying to get better.  They had me loaded up with so many anti depressants, a ton of Klonopin and Depakote that my muscle pain deactivated.  I couldn't get any farther then my bed, to my computer, to get something to eat, to the computer and back to bed, but no active trigger points.  So I go off to see the SSI evaluation Doctor and he starts pushing on trigger point spots and I am feeling nothing.  So he says, well, you obviously don't have Fibro.  I asked him, so let me get this straight.  If your a diabetic taking insulin shots and your blood sugar levels are normal, I guess by your standard your not a diabetic.

Of course after I got sick of them medicating me so heavily I was not physicaly or mentaly feeling anything and cut out most of their meds and went back to getting out of the house and moving around, against my Doctors advice, because he didn't think my heart would take the strain, the Fibro comes back with a vengence.  Now I have to wait 6 more months since the last SSI decline, so I can reapply and get Medi-Cal and get some kind of decent Doctor

Thanks for your reply.

I was diagnosed about 8 years ago with fibro. I've been on medication for pain since then. I also have other health problems as well (most of us do).
This rheummie is partners with the one ho gave me the diagnoses. Weird HUH?
Anyway they are looking at possible lupus, osteoarthritis and a host of other things..lucky me.

I totally hear you about the medication and being in a coma to get some sleep. the pain is brutal at times. It seems like the headaches are the worst right now along with joint pain in my fingers and wrists...currently that's the pain I have alothough I have pain all over a lot of the time also just not the day I met with the new doctor...how often that happens..LOL
Thanks again

Can come and go.  Since their medical definition of Fibro is so many active trigger points out of so many, I think its 18 spots they count, and if you don't have enough for the diagnoses, TADA, its gone.

Load me up with about 150 milligrams a day of Amitryptaline, 40 milligrams of Paxil, 6 milligrams of Klonopin going to bed and I don't have active trigger points in a few weeks because I am sleeping 12 hours a night in a coma and the trigger points all deactivate after awhile.  Of course I am completely mentaly disfunctional at that point, but by their definition, I don't have Fibro.  In my opinion anyhow, that is sorta what he might have meant.
