CoQ10

CoQ10

I have been diagnosed with FM. I'm reasonable sure the diagnosis is correct because I have the tender points and the peripherial things like IBS and Migraines, etc.  However, I also have metabolic syndrome. I am required to take Lopid and Lipitor. I thought my FM was really acting up because I could no longer get up from a chair.  I had heard about CoQ10 and started taking 50mg per day. My knees feel so much better. Is this because of help for the FM or is it because I am replacing what is needed from taking the statin? Is the CoQ10 hard on the liver? And what else might all my medications be taking from my system that I don't know about? It upsets me that the physicians don't tell us about the side effects of these meds.

CoQ10 is known to help in FM for some people.  However, you are right to research what other effects the meds have and to try to counter them.  One suprising place to start are the company sites for the drugs...then go other places from there.  If the meds remove cq10 and it's a problem in fm when deficient, your kneee's reaction makes sense.  If you do learn more - please come back and let us know!  I personally reacted with increased cfs symptoms to cq10 (plus a few other minerals) so I haven't been able to try it.
