Do you feel terrible the day after you exercise? Post Exertional Malaise (PEM) is the cardinal sign of Chronic Fatigue.
They have recently reported a retovirus related to the disease. A retrovirus is a virus that lurks in the body with no symptoms until a vulnerable time when it makes itself known. The XMRV retrovirus is related to mice, though, not sex. I don't think anyone has said it spreads human to human.
I'm in this situation myself. So far CFS is diagnosed by excluding everything else, but it looks like the science is finally coming. PEM is "a major spike in fatigue, pain and flu-like symptoms following exertion that lasts for a least 24 hours". I recently got tired of waiting for a diagnosis and Drs telling me to "wait and see what evolves" I have not been tested for XMRV but I was tested for PEM in California. My journal link is below, I think it describes what the testing and PEM is like. What struck my interest is your statement "always tired even after sleep, ankle joints hurt, sometimes sore muscles, tingling, burning, numb - worse at night, bad headaches come and go, sometime feel nauseous, etc - always tired, sore and stiff muscles when i sleep and wake up...i feel like I'm 65 years old!!! ". Admittedly I'm a lot closer to 65, but I do relate
