Fibro Remission?

Fibro Remission?

I was diagnosed with FM a couple years ago. I showed signs of it for years...been in about 7 car accidents, but the trama of being raped and going through the trial was what made it agressive. My family doctor of 10 years did not dianose me (he wouldn't even say the word), a pain management doctor did after going to see him regarding a bulging disk. I was someone (before it became agressive) that worked out every day for 2-3 hours a day, everyday and I couldn't even walk. After fighting with docotrs (that caused more stress) and realizing that it wasn't in my head, I stopped seeing all doctors. I had stopped all medications way before that because they continually made me worse. During the last year I have worked really hard at trying to get back to the level I was at with my workouts (which still hasn't happened) and reduce as much of my symptoms as possible. I have worked really hard and seem to be in what I think is a partial remission. As long as I stay in the gym and stay away from heavy stress I feel good, except for the CFS. My question is, is there such thing as a full remission? I can not work in the field I once did due to stress levels. I would love to be able to be in a full remission one day and have my life return to what is was before I was raped, my career being a big part of that.

I think that you brought up a very important issue here, sexuall assault. Out of the very small handfull of persons with Fibro that I have met most of us are victims of sexual assault. I was molested for many years as a child. Never in a car accident or injury of any kind before I was diagnosed as a teen. I did  have a major flare after I reported 2 of my "attackers.' I understand the courage it takes to talk about this issue and am glad that you brought it up. Good for you for taking care of yourself and identifying this issue and relating it to FMS. I strongly believe that trauma affects the body manifesting itself as diseases or other medical contitions. Having said that, I will tell you that I was in full remission :) I attended counseling for over 1 yr and also did physicall therapy and regular excercise and took light medication for that yr. I tried to be as healthy as possible. Though I too was used to heavy workouts I kept it simple and only walked or swam, then I started natural supplements as soon as I stopped therapy. I also attended anger manegment and felt 100x's better. My problem is that I did not learn how to manage stress, and whenever I stress I relapse. I think the key to getting rid of FMS when it is related to emotional trauma is adressing the trauma and heal emotionally completley, then move on to the physicall. Even in your question you sound stressed and overwhelmed, and it is not worth the pain it causes our bodies. I hope this helps. Take care.
