You've got so much more info on Fibro than I know. All the Rheumys here are lousy but i can't afford to go to Boston so here i sit. I'm hoping the weather changes all this rain and raw stuff is killing me. That's how my L wrist feels like it's broken I can't move it I'm going to pick up a wrist brace at the pharmacy tomorrow. Going on vacation Saturday and I'm worried that I'm not going to do so good. Motorcycle week in NH. My bf rides so....
I've got an appt on 22nd for pain center hope they help.
Thanks for always ending your messages with gentle hugs that's what we all need.
Hi there;
I also have the painful area in the palm of my hand just under the thumb. The main knuckle joint was also hurting so bad I thought that it might be broken. My Rheumy xrayed the hand and found that the cartlidge has worn completely down and the knuckle bones are rubbing. He gave me two choices, knuckle replacement( no way!!) or a brace to help with the pain. He gave me Voltaren(diclofenac sodium topical gel, and it helped so much. There can be several things that could be causing it, a good fibro Rheumy will be able to help.

I think its Lyme disease not fibro but am just not certain I will continue to plow on looking for answers good luck yo you
Yup the light is on and no it's not in your head unless you count the pain receptors! The lump is painful on my L wrist and feels like it's waking up with pins and needles. No bible thummping or rolling pin for this girl. I've got an appt. with the pain center on the 22nd. New center for me anyway. I'm not taking anymore cortizone shots though last time I had shots I ended up with some kind of rare headache disorder now I have to keep meds on me at all times. There's got to be a better way! Just give me pain meds and let me be on my way. More rain for the northeast that news always makes my day. Bring on the sun!!
But you're not Nuts go to a Rhmultoloigst be checked for Fibro good luck in your search for better health. Get more than one opinion before any surgeries some doctors are just money hungry. Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing. One more thing this is no cure for Fibro!
Spew away that where ideas come from, I was trolling along not knowing what was wrong over the years till I came upon MH and the forums here, having been told the test was negative I thought I couldnt have it, I have spent many years feeling bad with all the same symptoms you guys have. Ihave had Family thinking I am a Hyprochondriac I have been in and out of Doctors surgerys ..to no avail,given meds that made me ill, spent a fortune . ,then one day I found this community and the light came on, the relief I have found knowing I am not Nuts is worth anything I have in my life.LOL Now all I have to do is find a cure ....
Hi margypops!
Yes, I "butt in" over here, too. Fbiro/CFS and chronic Lyme have so much symptom overlap...
Anyway, as for ganglions, I'm not sure if they are associated with any condition? I've read that they are considered idiopathic. Since I spouted mine within the past year as my illness was getting bad, I wonder if my Lyme somehow triggered it?
I wonder if they are more common in the chronically ill than in the general population?
(Just spewing questions here, I don't know the answers...)
Sorry guys to butt in was just looking at this forum and you have answered yet another thing I have I have had a lump as you descibe on the palm of my hand didnt connect it with Lyme or Fibro ,I jhave also had one on the bottom of my footon the sole. Wow another qury answered..mine doesnt hurt too much I had thought maye be a ganglion.
Perhaps some of these lumps are ganglion cysts? I have a pretty big one on my L wrist, above the joint and on the back of my hand. It's kinda ugly, but doesn't interfere with movement and isn't painful. They can be drained or even operated on if they do interfere or cause pain.
A colloquial name for ganglion cysts is "Bible thumpers," because the old fashioned remedy is to smack them with a Bible. (I am NOT suggesting that therapy!)
I have fm and in the past 8 months developed painful lumps in the same place on both wrists. Just where the bottom of the thumb meets the wrist. I can't wear my watch band anymore because the swelling makes it so tight. To me it looks like there is something on one of the ligaments. Finally I went to the doctor . Xrays of both hands showed nothing. He gave me an injection of cortisone into the lump on the most painful wrist and although I still have this lump the pain is gone. I'm using wrist braces on both hands now and they appear to have helped the other wrist.
Hello;
Yes fibro causes muscle spasms and knots, I get them from about the size of a pea to a little bigger than a marble. They do hurt, I use a rollin pin on the ones that I can reach.
