From what I've read about fibromyalgia (I have CFS) is that some people w/ fibro, also have infertility problems. Here's a link on that:

I was just reading that today about endometriosis and fibromyalgia being linked. The article I read said that if you have endo you are twice as likely to develop fibro, or was it the other way around??? Anyway, I have both and have had infertility problems all my life. I'm 47 and lucky to have one child. I've had two other unsuccessful pregnancies. Funny thing is that all three pregnancies happened immediately after taking antibiotics (within the same cycle). Makes me wonder if there's a viral component to both of these diseases.....

Sorry, I meant to say "a bacterial component to both of these diseases....."

I've had Fibro for 9 years now. But now I am experiencing fertility problems. I miscarried in spring 2002. Never knew why. I had my daughter in November 2003. She's beautiful, healthy but a handful for me ;)

But for the past year and a half I have not been able to conceive. In March an ultrasound showed an ovarian cyst. I had a CT and then an MRI. The MRI says it may be an endomitrioma (due to endometiosis). I will have a laparoscopic procedure done next month to remove the cyst and see if there are any other blockages in my fallopian tubes.

But I'm wondering now after reading the about.com link (I found it last week) if I have a thyroid problem. Doctors have been checking my thyroid for years but they always just do the TSH test and it says I'm fine. So I just found a new rheumatologist and will see him next month.

I'll be sure to come back here and share what I've learned after all this.

i too have m.e (cfs) for over 17yrs and was bed bound a one point. i also have infertility problems. had clomid got my boy but now been tryin for 3yrs and have not long had a m.c. i too often wonder if it all related. as i have low hormane level. My specialist thinks it the hyperphulmus of the brain not working properly, that also where the hormane signals come from.. so i wonder... i also have been told i got a large throid gland so having tests..... maybe it is all linked..

Hi Katie,

Thanks for sharing. I found this link to be a good explanation of how the thyroid works.

I had my surgery a week ago. They did find endometriosis. I had scar tissue on both my ovaries and my uterus too. They removed all that scar tissue. One of my ovaries was even scar tissued to my pelvic bone. That area is still sore. Some I'm glad all my tests weren't for nothing and that I did need this laparoscpic procedure to be done. The OB said the endometriosis is low to moderate but I will need to see a fertility specialist to see if I should treat the endometriosis first then try to conceive again. I can not try to conceive during treatment because of the hormone therapy. I do plan to see a rheumatologist soon and have my thyroid checked. I just wished when I was diagnosed with Fibro that some one had told me that I could have fertility problems. I wish I was given the advice to have my children as early as possible. I feel very lucky to have my daughter but still hope to one day have another child.
