Fibromyalgia symptoms

I am a 22 year old female and after doing a bit of research it sounds as though I have several symptoms that occur under fibromyalgia.  I have had throughout my entire life a bizarre amount of muscle problems and pain.  In recent times (last 5-6 months) I have had occasions where my body and skin hurts so much that even my shirt is hurting it.  This isn't an everyday, or even every week, event but it has happened probably 5 or 6 time.  I have also recently been having terrible night sweats, gained several pounds and have been insanely tired at times.  I just don't want to get my mom worried by bringing this thought up without getting some insight...so hopefully someone can help me!  I would really appreciate it!

A simple blood test will determine if you have any other condition such as Rhumetoid Arthritis.... they did one for me..... It sounds to me like you have it. And it is very painful.

Hi grahamk,

Only a question.  Have you had any infection during this year and had you been prescribed with any antibiotic for a long time period?

This does not sound like FMS to me.  Particularly night sweats which sounds like it could be infectious.   Like others said, I would have other things ruled in or out first.  I think rheumatologic conditions and infectious conditions like lyme disease should be ruled in or out.

Thanks for the info! I have read about the tender points but I am not sure exactly where they are or how you know if you have them.  My muscle problems have been general pain, weakness, muscle cramps and spasms.  I have seemingly had "growing pains" for the past decade of my life it seems.  I have always complained to my doctor but he has never really done much about it.  It think I will get those tests done as the first step here.  Thanks a lot again!

Selma was right about getting your tests done to rule out other conditions that might cause similar symptoms, although my suspicion is that you could be right.
Generally, a Rhamatologist or general practictioner who is knowledgeable should be able to dx you properly.

Your mom would be very proud knowing you are considering her feelings and not wanting to worry her.

Happy Holidays.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
In ur research, did u find info on the tender points for fibro...there r 18...if u have 11 u have fibro...

the health pages on the right hand of the screen has more info on this.

There r so many conditions that could and do have the same symptoms it is best to have a dr look at u if u haven't already. In going u should have ur thyorid check along with ur levels of ur minerals and vitamins...B12, D....calcium, potassium...magnessium....all can have major affects on ur body.Plus at ur age u have a montly cycle that affects u as well, hormones play a big part in how we feel.

What r some of ur other muscle issues beside pain that u have experienced?

If u don't already do so, ask for copies of all tests....and the reports.....this is the best way to go for 2nd opinions.

Good luck
Godspeed
