Fibromyalgia?

I'm new here and I haven't had a fibromyalgia diagnosis, but I have had muscle twitching all over (mostly in my legs) and that has died down quite a bit, but I've have tired muscles and I have been so tired. I get tender spots that hurt for no reason to the touch. This past Saturday I went dancing and almost didn't make it through the first song, my legs started to hurt so bad. I woke up the next morning and it felt like someone had beat my legs with a baseball bat. My muscles are so tight and it's just now getting a little better with a lot of hot baths, heating pads, and bayer for back and body. Can anyone give me any insight or reassurance at this point. I'm only 30. My dr. has ran all the blood tests in the world and nothing, I had a perfect MRI a year ago and just recently went back to the neuro and went through a total physical evaluation and had a normal EMG. I'm not sure what's going on. So far I have been put on anxiety meds.
Thank you all in advance for reading this long post and for your comments.

I also have excruciating shoulder pain. It feels like someone is ripping my shoulder all up and also this deep deep pain thats to the bone. It is horrible. I have not been diagnosed with fibro but I suspect I have it. I have had MRI's and a cat scan and an EMG. The EMG was the only thing that showed something; a pinched nerve.

For the past 5 1/2 years I have had chronic pain in my arms, legs, shoulder and neck. Doctors have done MRI's, an EMG which showed a pinched nerve, a myelogram with a cat scan which showed a perfect spine and no pinched nerve. The pain is unbearable, I have headaches all the time, weakness in my left arm and shoulder, tingling and lightening bolt pains and spasms that shoot down my back and down my legs. Today after seeing my neurosurgeon and him telling me he cannot do anything to fix me because nothing is showing up on my scans, I almost broke down and cried because no one seems to know what is wrong with me. I researched Fibromyalgia and discovered a lot of the symptoms I am having. I thought I was to young to have this, I am only 22. I am wondering more and more if this is what I have. I luckily have an appt with my primary doctor next week and I am going to discuss the possibility of having this with her. I do not know what else I can do to figure out what is wrong with me. Being in pain for so long sets you into a deep depression, a 22 year old should not feel this miserable.

I haven't found anything that works for my FMS, except for just "babying" myself.  I drink lots of water (to avoid restless legs and itching).  I take vitamins, eat my green vegetables, get lots of sleep, limit my caffeine intake, and I have cut back on all of my extra responsibilities.  I have intentionally slowed and quieted my life down.  I avoid people who bring drama into my life.  I stay away from highly stressful situations, if I can (I find holidays and special events make me tense which in turn makes me ache...).  It doesn't make the pain, tenderness, itching, aching, etc go away.  But, it makes it easier for me to listen to my body and avoid things that make the FMS worse.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Yes, fibromyalgia can produce these symptoms (tenderness). Sometimes repetitive injuries or strain can also produce these symptoms. Inflammation of the muscles, joints and surrounding soft tissues like bursa can also cause pain. They are diagnosed by a physical examination. Sometimes blood tests, x rays, bone scan, CT and nerve conduction studies can help clinch the diagnosis. Also, at times a muscle biopsy may be needed to diagnose. Treatment usually depends on the cause and pain killers are given if the pain is severe. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I'm diagnosed Fibro for 12 years now, I, like howlingshadow, was prescribed various opiates for my condition and am worse for it.  While I would strike a deal with the devil when my pain episodes were at their worst after 12 years living with this I have decided to take control over my life and I just detoxed myself off my meds - after a while inevitably they stop relieving the pain and you are hooked.  Detox off opiates is hell.  I like you had all the tests, MRIs never showed the excruiating shoulder blade pain I was living with or the bone crushing lower back pain, i have the gamut of symptoms sciatic pain, the joint stiffness, the lack of sleep, skin sensitivity, headaches, leg weakness.  Let my story be a tale of caution to you as you navigate finding out what is causing your pain.  PLEASE reconsider any use of opiates to treat this condition, even if you don't abuse them and just take them as you are suppose to and I believe I'm probably in the minority most people who use opioids do end up abusing them becasue your body WANTS more, even though mentally I knew I shouldn't take more and didn't, my body WANTED more so I stayed in a chronic state of low level withdrawals for quite some time thinking I was having a bad fibro flare - in hindsight I'm pretty sure it was probably the meds - I'm 4 days off all now and we'll see how I feel 30 days from now.  Kundalini yoga popped into my life a little over a year ago and with my fibro it is a form of exercise I can tolerate, you always honor your body, never do anything if it hurts and it has given me the mental strength to finally come off my meds and learn to manage them.  I never wanted to consider diet would change how I felt but I've been limiting sugars and eating healtier, I get massage, I've been getting some gentle chiropractic and also seeing a chinese medicine doctor  - this is my experience, please understand the ramifications of pain management as you will eventually pay the piper.  I was your age when I got diagnosed - you simply cannot live on pain meds for the rest of your life you are too young so try to manage it .  I wish you the best of luck on what can be a frustrating journey.

I have had fibro for 10 yrs now, just took myself off Tramadol that was prescribed for back pain, athritis and fibro. I found I was worse for taking it, and went through the last 2 weeks of hell. I have found lots of alternative medicines that help. Take epson salt baths this helps with the baseball bat syndrome, lol, I take ibprofin and acetomenaphin alternating when its very bad, take gabopentin only when I have to for the twitching, wich I feel in my legs, back and arms. Light excersise helps but dont over due it. I have a very stressful job, when I feel the pain getting horrific I go hide and meditate or pray. Its all about finding what works for you. Some other things, losing your mind in a hobby or watching a funny movie when you feel down because you cant do anything anymore and lots of support from a friend, friends or even this page would work.

I understand the leg aches, especially the feeling like you've been beat with a baseball bat. I suggest that you see a rheumatologist. They can eliminate all the other rheumatoid and autoimmune disorders and confirm a fibromyalgia diagnosis. They will also be able to prescribe meds that will effectively treat your symptoms. Don't give up until you find the combo that works right for you.
I've had fibro my whole life and have had to fight to get any relief. Hot baths and heating pads are my best friends.
