Finally diagnosed, thank goodness.

I have hashimoto's thyroiditis and have had almost every symptom of fibro for  8 years. I finally saw a fantastic rheumotologist out of a wonderful well know hospital who has finally diagnosed me with fibro. While nobody weants to have anyhting, I am just so thankful to finally know what is going on. I just wondered if anyone has ever had a case of hives that lasted a week or more. Not chronic, just aone time thing that lasted less than five weeks? Wondered if this coulf be part of fibro.? Also, do people with fibromyalgia have more drug sensitivites and allergies?

Yes, That is my understanding I have had Hashi's for 8 years and I feel like the fibro has been going on that long I have taken penicillin before, but this last time had severe hives. that is why I was asking about the hives. Can drug sensitiviities/allergies just come on like that with fibro?

I just ran into an old friend and she was telling me that she has liver problems. And now it turns out that she probably has CFS (she's had mono twice... the first time it was affecting her liver). She asked me if CFS affects your thyroid and I said, "most definitely ! " She also has Hashimoto's.

It's all connected... (in my opinion)

Yes to ur ? on drug sensitivity......I am finding it harder to take meds.My dr told me it is the fibro causing the sensitivity to them  and we must add them slowly and do the trials b 4 getting an rx filled!!

PS- I have Hashimoto's too!
hope this helps.

Good luck

Woo hoo ~ congratulations ! I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but happy to hear that you may not have fibromyalgia. How did your rheumatologist diagnose you ? Did he/she order anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies to aid in the diagnosis or do a thryoid scan ?

I must remind everyone here though that a low thyroid is often seen in fibromyalgia and CFS patients (the majority). For more info on that, check out our Health Pages and click on "tests to diagnose".
