There are many who have pain for years. That is the nature of this illness i'm afraid. It is different for each and every one of us in that regard.
I am with Angel...mine definitely let me know when they take charge. Mostly in my hips and neck. I know of no way to ward off flare-ups other than pacing yourself, getting good rest (REM portions) and being kind to yourself...not pushing yourself to hard to get things done.
If you have pain meds. they may help. If not, maybe some Aleve or Advil (but there isn't much success with these though it may dull the pain somewhat). If you are able to draw a nice warm bath and just soak for a while, that may help as well.
Also, try to remain relaxed, because the anxiety alone will cause more pain. Stress plays a huge role in the way we feel so you don't need anything to add to it if possible.
Get well soon.
Hi Kimmie;
I am so sorry that you are havg such a hard time right now. I'm right there with you. I don't always hurt directly in the trigger point areas. The trigger points in the fat pad area of your knee can cause your leg to hurt all the way to your ankle, the trigger points in your lower back and hips can cause pain in your thighs and pretty much the complete lower part of your body.
When I have flares, they consume me.Both sides of my body is on fire and at times the skin feels as though it is being ripped away. I have 16 of the 18 trigger points, and boy do they let me know that they are the boss to me. I wish I could tell you how to avoid having these flares, but I can't. I know I didn't help a whole lot, but know that your not alone.
gentle hugs
Angel
