Got a question hoping all of you intelligent people can help.

Hi,I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia,in February of this year.I have been, having a problem with left leg going out.It does not go out at my knee, but up towards my thigh.Does any one know why this is happening?I don't know if it is muscle weakness or something else.I have all been losing strength in my arms and legs.I can't get up if I squat to the floor.Does any one have the same problem or know what this is?Is it coming from the Fibromyalgia,or is some thing else going on now?Thank you for taking the time to read my question.                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Blackrose

Hi, all!!
I was diagnosed with fibromialgia, CFS, and renauld phenomenon all in one afternoon. Talk about a dark day. My symptons are- swollen face and hands in the morning. My hands are also stiff and in the morning's I can't bend them. I hurt all over all the time, I can feel the muscles that I use when I'm driving because they will hurt. All I want to do is sleep. My bladder works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I can actually feel it when I have muscle contractions. I have to use the rest room 10-12 times a day or i will have an accident if i get a muscle contraction there. with the renaulds when i am stressed and cold my fingers and toes will turn completly white, after 10 min they will turn black. when i rewarm them they hurt really bad and are marroon in color for awhile. I am 35 i am in good shape, i weigh 120 and i am very active. The only relief that I get is from coffee, which the DR's frown upon. all OTC drugs do not work and the DR.s tell me that I am to young to take narcotics. What am I to do? I am over grinning and bearing it!!

Blackrose, I also have been diagnosed with fibro and happen to have had a nodule on my thyroid which was removed (half of thyroid) in October.  Although my thyroid tests show me in normal ranges I am in the high range for TSH and low range for T4-Free.  In November I was put in Synthroid for thyroid and low and behold three weeks after I started taking it I woke up and fibro pain, which was constand...was gobe, completely.  I felt as though some very loud sound had been turned off!  Anyway I truely believe that my fibro symptoms were related to my thyroid all along.  The pain did return 3 weeks later: however my dose has been increased and I will let u know in a couple weeks if the pain goes away.  Keep your fingers crossed!!!!

I would recommend acupuncture to anyone ! (or a massage for that matter !) ; ^ )

Acupuncture really helps, but unfortunately most insurance companies do not pay for it.

im a massage therapist. i see a few clients on a regular basis for fibro. they feel so much better, not that i say it will work with everyone. i recently read about the possibility of accupuncture helping. an article in good housekeeping maybe. im not saying its a cure, but maybe it can help you too.

I totally agree with Plateletgal.  Tittinitis is also a symptom of Fibromyalgia, I've had both for 6 yrs or so. Startling is also. Do you feel depressed or that this started after an accident or illness?   Did the change of season and clocks going back effect you at all?  Do you get enough sunlight? An easy thing to try while you are waiting to see the DR.,& getting results is light therapy.  Get a bright garden light or those big bulb with a metal cover(the ones used in workshops & auto places): every morning when you get up, sit in the light or sun with your face facing it for about 20  min.  Do it again mid-afternoon.  See if that gives you back some energy or helps depression.  But yeah definetly see a DR. about your symptoms, write them  all down whether you think it is important or not. SEE if any match Fibro or Hypothyroid etc. If your DR. brushes you off, ask to see an RA or an ENDO DR.  Good Luck and hope you have a Healthy Christmas

Please go back and have those cysts double checked.  Those could be a major part of your problems.  They are too important to ignore. Get an Endo Dr. to give you a physical and all the tests nessasary. Prepare some of your c-mas dishes early and freeze them whenever possible.  Have a pot luck, everybody can bring a dish that goes with the main course.  Then they can also bring their dirty dish home (with their leftovers). Might save you trouble.  Have a GOOD day.

Your physician needs to do a complete work-up on you, including ruling out autoimmune diseases (lupus, RA, etc) and endocrine (thryoid, adrenal) problems.

I need some ideas on what is going on with me.  I am one of much energy and could fit in 28 hours of stuff into a 24 hour day. For the past 2 months I have been very tired following  four days of normal functioning, then I am wiped out for about two days.  This has gotten worse since Thanksgiving.  Now for the past week I have been so fatigued I can't stand it.  My musccles all over feel weak, I am having difficulty just moving and walking and working takes so much effort.  No headache, no nausea, no bowel problems, so I don't think it is the flu.  My head feels it is in a fog, and I have tinnitus very bad, for 6 months now, with a "dropping feeling in my head."  I also startle real easy in the morning and can hear like a sheet metal sound clanging within my head at times. Could this be fibromyalgia, West Nile, MS  what??  I have seen an ENT with noticeable hearing loss but no tumor in my middle ear.  Today my left arm feels very weak and achey. Hope someone has some answers, I think my doctor thinks I am nuts.

Well I just got results back.  I test negitive for Cushings as far as the amount of cortisol in my urine.  I am also going to look into Metabolic Disease and Diabeties because my diet is not one that would cause obesity.  I also have hypothyroid that I feel is not under control and will get an Endo to help with that.  My RA DR. has been doing all the nesessary blood work for all that but she isn't the right kind of specialist to really know how to follow all my ailments.  She is knowleable and keeps up to date on Fibro though.  The reason that I got tested for Cushings besides showing many symptoms for it was I recently read that many misdiagnosis were happening because of the great similarities between Fibro & Cushings.  Good Luck with your tests , it took 2 plus days to get my urine results back & it always hard to wait for results, isn't it?  Do you have any Thyroid problems.  You may want to look into underactive thyroid to. Weight gain is a symptom as well as fatigue  Again good luck & hope that you feel good through the Christmas Season.

Good luck. Many people w/ CFS have low adrenal output, so I wouldn't be surprised if you have endocrine problems.

Since you are having weakness and your systems are getting worse, you may want to consider googling "Marshall Protocol" + "Success Stories" and check it out. Although I am not sure if you can be on the MP if you have Cushing's. The MP is still considered research, but the medications are NOT research medications. In addition, there are many success stories. The protocol just started in 2004 and has already saved lives, including the creator of the protocol, Dr. Trevor Marshall, who had sarcoidosis. I'm on the protocol getting better myself. It isn't easy and it does take some time, but apparently it is worth it from what I'm hearing.

Take Care !

I am very new to this site, but had a comment for weak arms and legs. I too have fibro and many other ailments and have just recently been tested for Cushings syn. There are many symptoms of both syn. that are the same. But one that was different was thinning arms and legs due to muscles weakening(Cushings);I do not have my test results back but it was an easy 24 hr. urine collection at home.  Other than that get checked out for a pinched nerve in your lower spine, the side that goes out.  It there any warning before it happens, any burning pain?  Are your muscles getting weaker from lack of use? Check out the Cushings syn. to see if you have any other symtoms for that. Any Dr. can order the test for you but you want an Endo to take care of you if Cushings is the problem. See a neorsugeon for pinched nerve if you think it is that, gather up some sym. first. Good Luck.  idesofmarch
