Oh and I don't cook with oil. I only eat meat and veggies, or organic pastas. I bake or broil, steam or boil. I use almond/coconut milk mix in organic coffee.
What I figured out from my lifestyle and diet was that I depleted my body of essential nutrients by only consuming about 700 food calories a day and drinking light and sweet coffee all day and alcohol at night. Instead of looking into my diet my primary care physician (whom I luv to death but not my death LOL) treated the symptoms as he's trained to, first, I developed IBS so I received Bentyl, then all over pain receiving flexeril, tramadol and NSaids on top of an SNRI the he put me back. Not realizing my diet and my previous prescription of an SNRI was most likely my cause for my deficiencies.
Its been three weeks since I researched causes of my issues, I changed my diet, reduced my sleeping pillow down to one instead of two, changed my supplements and weaned off the SNRI. I feel fantastic so far. I get a slight knot in between my shoulder blades but thats about it which is way better then feeling like I was in a car accident everyday for years. I felt this way when I first was off the SNRI but the FMS developed 3 months after, however, I had not changed my diet like I have now nor did I have the supplements I take now.
I know everyone's body is different but I feel rather than suffering perhaps we should all look into what may be a deficiency causing our pain rather then adding prescription after prescription for the symptoms.
Thanks Niko!
Since I posted this, Ive now been going 3 weeks on Aminos, D3, Gingko, and of course my own interpretation of paleo type diet. If someone called me 3 weeks prior I wouldve sounded like that Visine Dry Eye guy Ben Stein commercial. Yesterday I talked peoples ear off - one a Fitness Gym sales associate who called to recruit me to join, we got to talking and walked away with a productive convo. the other a vitamin sales associate. I was wired on health not coffee or alcohol or meds. Just supplements and diet choice.
Since 7/12/12:
Im down to savella 25mg 1xday now. (I completely stopped the cymbalta 60mg by switching directly to 100mg savella and weaning off. I did extensive research on this technique and have a results document saved on my desktop regarding it)
Since I only purchased a 2 week trial of aminos I researched and decided based on customer review, to try high quality organic Chlorella caps instead.
It isnt easy finding the right combo, whether its meds or supplements everyone is different.
I refuse to stand by and accept Fibromyalgia taking my life from me.
Hey Kim,
Welcome to the forum.
Your post is refreshing to say the least!
I'm glad that you are on the same page with some of us who are holistic minded and having experienced great improvement using sound nutritional
approaches and natural remedies , similar to what you are describing.
While there are no 2 Fibro sufferers exactly the same, and the results will vary from individual to individual, at least some benefits will reward the ones
who follow such recommendations.
You mentioned you use coconut oil in your coffee. That's great!
Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (EVCO), used for cooking in place of pro-inflammatory vegetable and seed oils or fresh added to drinks and food, will guarantee less inflammation AND all the healthy effects of EVCO (Coconut oil is antifungal, antiparasitic and antimicrobial).
Oil pulling with EVCO daily will help you rid your oral cavity and salivary glands of BILLIONS of harmful bacteria and toxins, thus less opportunity
of them spreading into the body and causing infection and disease.
Just do a search or visit the coconut research center website.
Malic acid is vital for the Krebs cycle-a complex cellular metabolic process-
however, the underlying issue, is elevated tartaric acid production, an antagonist to malic acid. Tartaric acid levels in environments rich in fungus and fungal metabolites are grossly elevated in fibromyalgia patients, as much as 50 times the normal amount.
Fibro and fungal infections, go hand in hand, creating havoc in the sufferers
bodies. Brain fog , carb and sugar cravings, low energy, fatigue and aches are common symptoms.
So a strict anti-fungal protocol (coconut oil consumption, supplementing with quality probiotics, NO sugars-even from natural sources, no gains, no breads, no cereals, no alcohol, no yeast, no dairy, no artificial sugars, no mushrooms, no fermented foods, etc.) should take care of this issue.
Just do a search.
You are definitely on the right path.
There's a member "I will do this" who I believe has achieved getting off her meds and going "natural", just like you intend to do.
Just go back to early April to a thread started by me titled "I Will Do This"
for details and links.
I was inspired by her, to initiate posting various natural remedies and holistic recommendations that help with fibro.
Take care and we hope to see more of your posts here.
If you have any questions, just post again or pm me any time.
