Hello Everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself and I hope someone reads this. After a few months of pain, fear, and several doctors and test, they said I dont have MS, I have Fibro. I had CT scan, all clear, MRI of the brain, all clear, Cervical spine, all clear. Lots of bloodwork, diabetes, thyroid, b12, everything, all clear. So I still am having muscle spasms in my legs and some in my arms, or maybe my arms are just stiff, I cant tell anymore. I get some muscle twitches, and tremors as well, but they all come and go. I mostly only notice the tremor in an arm or hand if I get upset or excited about something. I feel a little unsteady when I walk, and it makes my leg spasm more. My hand feel stiff and sometimes I think they feel swollen but I really cant tell for sure, I think they just feel like it. Any way, if my story sounds at all familiar to someone on here, please let me know. I'm still scared the doc is making a mistake with saying I dont have MS and its Fibro. Could really use a little reassurance. Thanks and Take Care

Hi Robynn,
Did your family doctor diagnose you with Fibromyalgia, or have you been to see a Rheumathologist? My Neurologist said the same to me, as the tests didn´t show any neurological problem, but my doctor then sent me to a Rheumathologist. Great that you have a good family doctor, but a Rheumathologist specializes in muscle and joint pains, and also has experience in the tests needed to diagnose Fibro. They seek a history of widespread pain in all four quadrants of the body (e.g. above the waist on both sides; below the waist on both sides of the body) for three months or more. Then a tender points test would be needed, where, if you have Fibro., you´ll feel pain at at least 11 of 18 tender point sites. Other illnesses and neurological disorders also have to be excluded.
After years of going from one doctor and specialist to the other, it was such a relief for me to finally have my Rheumathologist give me a definate diagnosis.
Does your doctor have a treatment plan for you? The anxiety you experience, the spasms and muscle weakness are for real, since they effect your every day, so don´t settle for it being "all in the mind".
I also experience painful spasms in my legs at times, they come out of the blue, I can be resting, or walking, they don´t last more than a few minutes, but it´s very painful.
I´m daily in a great deal of pain from my muscles, joints, lower back and neck, and I´m dependent on a lot of pain medication.
Really feel for you, and what it´s like having two small children. Do you have a family to understand and support you?
Hang in there, and don´t stop reaching for help.
Take care :)

Hi, and thank u for responding, u were the only response I got, LOL, I feel so alone with all this. I have a good family doc, and my Neurologist is very good, but very brash. He said he doesnt need to see me back in his office because he has tested me for everything he needs to. I'm like so I'm just stuck with all of this, No reply. Hmmm, Ok, so I start thinking maybe it is all in my head. But theres no way, I may be anxious, but I feel like I'm only so anxious because I feel like crap. Anyway, I was wondering if u get any spasms in ur legs or are u just experiencing the difficulties with walking, I cant walk far at all either. I still have two small children and this makes me sad because I cant take them out to the park anymore and when we do go, I have to just sit and watch them play. I hate this, how much pain do u experience?? Just curious. Please get back to me, I really dont have anyone to compare my symptoms to. Thanks again for responding and please stay in touch.

Take care:)

Hi Robynn, and welcome! I´m new here too. I understand your uncertainty about your diagnosis, as I´ve been through the same. For years my condition had the doctors suspecting MS, but all the tests didn´t show anything. Recently I was diagnosed with CFS/Fibro.I too have tremors and muscle twitches, especially my right arm tremors and shakes uncontrollably at times. This shaking can come at all times, even when I´m resting, and I think it´s quite common for Fibro/ CFS. Sometimes I can feel the tremor deep in the muscles, without being able to see it, other times it shakes so much that the food drops off my fork. I´m also very unsteady walking, and cannot walk very far at all. After a few meters the pain in my legs become unbearable, and I lose the strength to stand. Especially my left leg becomes heavy, and just gives in if I put my weight on it.
How long have you had your symptoms? Do you have a good doctor you can speak to, and trust?
Take care :)
