Gabapentin is a great help to most Fibro patients. As for another Rx that is amazing & helpful try Zanaflex aka Tizanidine. It's a muscle relaxer that works amazing for me. I get horrible full body spasms that are quite disrupting & painful. It also helps with sleep buy is not prescribed for that. It so much better than Soma!

You need to keep in mind that Fibro is a life long medical issue that requires a lot of patience to fully understand how it affects you & which medications are best for you. Be your own advocate & 'try, try again.'  Always keep your Dr informed of changes & be honest! No one can help you unless you let them. Brutal honesty with one's Dr is paramount to living a full & healthy life. Of you can't trust your Dr, find a new one ASAP! Your best interests are always what a Dr should be worried about first. But they can't help you if you ignore problems, diminish issues & keep them to yourself.

You can do this! I am in my early 30's and have been living with Fibro, Degenerative Joint Disease & Degenerative Disk Disease for 9 years but was diagnosed in 2006. 4 years of suffering, bad Dr's telling me nothing wrong or I'm crazy and a lot of self doubt I finally started to get my answers. I had to go the Mayo Clinic to finally be diagnosed with Fibro, I took the Fibro pressure point test (which I had never heard of & thought they were humoring me!) of all those points, I had every single one. But that's only the beginning of my story. My point is you have to be firm in your resolve to be honest with your Dr & help your Dr help you get to the part of your story where you are healthy and happy again. Living with Fibro may not be easy at times but it is a life sentence not a death one. There are thousands of other diagnosis that are worse. I am grateful to have mine even when one day I become wheelchair bound.

Good luck with your search for the proper medicine for your situation. You can do this!

Reiki is a transfer of  universal healing energy.
There are no limitations regarding age, gender, type of condition etc.
I have seen many cases of  improvement and healing - what some people express as miracles- using Reiki.
To my opinion, a good Reiki practitioner is one that has the feel of energy,
is very empathetic and interested to serve the client in the best possible way for the best outcome.
One suggestion, if I may make, is to cut out all sugars-artificial ones too- and all grains and cereals for a week, if possible . And monitor the changes. You may be very surprised.
Also a consultation with  a  NAET or "Allergy Elimination" trained practitioner or Doctor, might be very helpful, as in  many cases there's an
underlying food or substance intolerance or allergy.
If you need more info on this, please let me know as I'm very familiar with area of work.

Hey 305chick.

My instructor for my Hypnotherapy Certification course  specializes
in sleep issues.
At the present time I'm working towards the completion of a wellness  and
relief program tailored for people with Fibro CFS and similar conditions.
It involves Hypnotherapy, Reiki, EFT and Energy Psychology
A  client came in  recently for a Hypnotherapy session with a friend (who has diagnosed with fibro many years ago) The friend was just there as an observer.
To make along story short, not only did the friend get hypnotised (indectly), but later told me that she had the best sleep in years following this. I have done Reiki for her since then and more Hypnosis and it has made a world of difference for her.
This has been the typical testimony of many sufferers.
You may want to consider this drug free approach for pain and sleep issues.
Blessings

hello sorry to hear about the fibromyalgia i was diagnosed july this year I have heard good things about gabapentin for fibro. My mom takes it for pain with her neuropathy. Im suprised it alone isn't helping you sleep since i have heard this is a strong medication. Risperidol is a mood stablizer my son took it for his mood disorder. But i would deffinantly call the dr. They make ambien, lunesta and all kinds of meds for sleep. I have been on most of the sleep meds out there in the past.  Trazadone is one that worked for me for awhile. It is a anti depressant but it side effects is drowsiness and it helped me sleep. Only bad part was after awhile they had to increase my dose. I am also a SAHM of 4. I hope this helps and just know that your not alone.

I would definitely call your doctor on Monday and tell him/her that the meds prescribed for sleep are not working.  There are no end of good sleeping medications out there.  You just have to experiment with a few to find the one that works for you.
