I'm here as well.  Been trying to keep things on the positive side.  Just a little frustrated here lately because it's been raining and cloudy and humid for days.  I love the sun but not the humidity.  It seems that I can't win for losing.  I believe that I have found the right combination of meds but had to change insurance due to the rising cost of hubby's insurance.  Now, I can't get the meds that work because the new insurance company won't pay.  Don't know what I am going to do.  I am also considering trying to go back to work but everyone is telling me that I will be right back out again and then my waiting on SSDI status will be messed up.  Don't know what to do.  Oh yeah, about the high cholesterol, I have that and it's seems to be genetic.  I was told by my PCP to take the omega 3 fish oils because I have problems with side effects of most medicines.  I don't go back to see the pcp until August so I won't know if the fish oil is working or not.  At this point I am not even concerned about the cholesterol I just can't take this pain everyday.  It's depressing, it's frustrating and overall I am sick and tired of the whole kaboodle.  By the way, my combination of meds that are working for my FM is the new drug Savella 50mgs twice a day, vicodin 3 times a day as needed, skelaxin 3 times a day as needed,Lyrica 75mg twice a day and AmbienCR at bedtime.  Have a wonderful day everyone.

I think I have been better lately, but like the rest of us with "mystery" illnesses, I have my on and off days.

I was trying to keep my treatment as natural as possible, but I ashamedly took some antibiotics recently. I say it that way because I'm just not sold on antibiotics being a good cure for something chronic. Per an LLMD I have seen, I took Bactrim for around a week. I decided I was developing some side effects from it -- not convinced it was herxing -- and decided to quit it. I have read by many people that they have trouble tolerating the sulfa brand of antibiotics.

I forced myself to play volleyball three times last week. Haven't been able to do that with confidence for a long time. I didn't keel over from it and it felt halfway good (except for my bum right shoulder).

I frequent MedHelp just because I want to focus less on what ails me. I try and place my mind on other activities and promote positive thinking towards being healthy again. Went out and saw Star Trek tonight (awesome!) to take my mind off of health issues.

God Bless everyone in having a good weekend and better health!

Thank you for sharing that.  Yes, it's pretty much the same results here and I know PlateletGal has gone through her own issues with herxing.  When I first began the treatment I was taking 1 tsp. and thought..."well, that did fine" so I increased it.  I ended up in bed for 4 days, lol.  I've cut back the dosage now, but the protocols will always tell you about the herxing and that you will feel worse before getting better.  I think a lot of the problem is that we are dealing with 'multiple' infections, so it's going to be tough going when they begin to die off.

Because of how nauseaous I was, I did not do my treatment last night (didn't want to waste it, lol).  Much better today.  I am celebrating my 5th year anniversary and will be spending a relaxing, wonderful evening with my hubby.

I'm getting more excited as my grandbaby is almost ready to make his arrival.  They had initially set the date as 7/21, but he has already dropped so he might make his surprise visit early.  Within the next 2-3 wks. is what we are thinking now.  WooHoo....my first grandchild (I do have 2 from hubby's side of the family, but this is my first on my side).

Wishing you all a low-pain day.  Enjoy and be safe.

I'm not sure how different the case may be, but my Lyme herxes to antibiotics are always the worst when I start a new med and/or upped a dosage.

If I don't experience a period of improvement within a month but the herx symptoms persist, then I start to suspect side effects and other complications, and modify my regimen with my LLMD.

PlateletGal, thanks for letting me know that.  Sometimes it's pretty difficult, as i'm sure you know.  Hopefully, the next month will be much better.

You take care as well my friend!!!

The worst is when you first begin (at least it was for me).

Take care of yourself !!!

Lol...just keep repeating that line to yourself jodylee.  I have the same problem with sweets.

tootired - I haven't heard that as one of the main complaints.  I know I have it, but i'm sure the habit of nightly coco w/mounds of marshmellows had a whole lot to do with it.  High cholestrol is usually due to fat content in red meats, fast foods and sugars.  I've tried to put more veggies in my diet.  :-)

I was herxing this morning.  Nausea and a general overall yucky feeling...like the flu.  I know my poor body is loaded with about 35 yrs. of toxins, so i've a long way to go.  It's a little better tonight and I chaulk it up as par for the course!  :-)

sorry for the delay in getting back to your question, Gal.  Based on a stool study and the "bugs" that were found, I was put on Neomycin first.  He gave me saccharomyces boulardii (a probiotic) and another potion with fibers and charcoal to absorb and swish out all the little dead guys.  I was VERY nauseous, fluish and then after 10 days I came out of that part of the treatment with a bang...or an explosion, so to speak. Now I am taking nystatin and Diflucan along with other natural sweepers and vacuum cleaners.  Again, started with flu-like stuff, threw up, had lots of GI distress...but today I don't feel too bad and I'm day 6 into this one.  Started a no-sugar, no-flour, no-dairy (except cheese), no-fruit, no-fun diet when I started the medicines.  No carbs made me feel horrible at first.  I sneaked a Twinkie yesterday, but don't tell.  Today I think I'm going to make it!  Sugar feeds the bad guys.  Sugar is the enemy.  I will not eat sugar.

Do most people who suffer from FMS, have high cholesterol?  Mine is high as well and I really couldn't understand why.  Thought maybe genetics.  I am 38, 5'0 and 110lbs and I also have type 2 diabetes which doesn't fit and i have a good diet.

Thank you Angel.  I feel much better today, but still stuffed up.  Must be something blooming out there and the heat...ugh!!!

I'm sorry you have Arther visiting with you...kick him to the curb, lol.  Honestly, I do understand what you mean.  Seems we get over one thing and get another.

Mmmmmm pizza and a movie always sounds appealing.  How was the movie?  We splurged the other night and ordered a movie called The Day The Earth Stood Still.  It was a remake of an older movie with the same name.  Pretty good actually...and I made popcorn.  :-)  Wish I could have shared it with you both (and get some pizza, lol).

You have a wonderful weekend too my friend.  Feel better real soon.

warm hug,
Breeze

Hi there;
I am so sorry that you are having such a c r a p p y day. I woke up feeling about half decent and of course you would know that both of my hands caught whatever my thumb is croaking over with, I wish Uncle Arther would move on down the road. I swear, between the Fibro and the arthritis I can't win.......:( And I have a slight headache also, Geez!! Thank goodness it's Friday, my grandson and I are going to have pizza and watch a movie. Hubby has practice tonight with his band so it's me and the kid tonight. Have a safe weekend Mrs. Breezie.

Angel - You are such a good momma.  Getting up in the early am to give pup a bath.  My reaction would be to get them off the bed and roll over...lol.

Glad to hear you are doing well today.  Hope you stay that way for many more to come.

Hi everyone;
I'm here and if I do say so myself, I feel pretty good today. I'm finally sleeping better at night, my legs are now settling down using the Requip, thank goodness. The Voltaren Gel is helping the arthritis in the thumb, and the left knee is also  settled down. Although, I did have my night disturbed at about 2:30 this morning.

My little Chihuahua Treci woke me up scratching like crazy.....:(  I couldn't find the flea so I gave her a bath.....:) After the bath, I blow dried her and then we were ready to go back to bed. She hates any kind of bugs, and if one gets on her she will scratch all night. She settled right down on her back and was snoring away in no time.

And how is everyone else today????? take care of yous

gentle hugs
Angel

Lol @ all the *****'s.  It's kinda like "fill in the blanks"  :-)

We had the worst thunderstorms yesterday evening and night.  It almost looked like a hurricane going through here.  Knocked out the electricity for a while...I couldn't figure out how to reset the computers (until messing with it for an hour)...i'm glad it didn't take down any trees nearby.  I can do without the tv, but don't mess with my puter!!!

I'm going to take a nap.  Not having the best few days...may be allergies (or cabin fever).

Hi jodylee,

I would be interested in knowing which products you are taking. Yep.... detoxing ***** and it really opens your eyes as to how much **** we have in our bodies. But the good news is... you feel so much better afterwards.

jodylee - Good luck with your protocol.  Many here have read Dr. T's book and we do promote his SHINE protocol in our Health Pages.  I wish you much success and please keep us updated as you progress.

It may interest you also to look at the research into neuro-immune disease that the Whittemore Peterson Institute is implementing.  It's really great and hopefully it will result in more ways to test and treat these illnesses.

I'm having more herxing, so it's a very slow-going day for me today.  Again, it's in the upper 90's so going outdoors is nil.  On a good note...it will only be in the 60's tomorrow???  Strange weather we are having.  Worse thing is...my shows are reruns tonight, lol.  Oh well...time to pull out the dvd's and see what I haven't watched for a while.

Hope everyone is having a low-pain day.

Hi today everyone!  I'm in the midst of the "Teitlbaum Protocol" and have to stay close to a bathroom!  Just finished the first round, which was treating underlying infections and I guess this phase it to "flush" all the dead garbage.  Yuck.  TMI?

Thanks for the comments and suggestions about CFS and autoimmune disease.  I love to study this and be a part of finding solutions and/or effective treatments that can improve our daily lives.

I know about the not feeling well but being in good spirits, Gee.  It's helpful for me to think about things I CAN be grateful for.  Little things, maybe, but something I can squeeze some bit of enjoyment out of.

Blessings

"so the study of all these illnesses and their etiologies would be interesting and welcomed.  Does anyone know more about this subject?"

I would consider visiting Prof. Garth Nicolson's website at http://www.immed.org . You can also find links to his Q & A sessions that he did here in MedHelp in our health pages (look to the upper right of your screen under "discussions"). Prof. Nicolson is now MedHelp's autoimmune disease physician and has agreed to answer questions about the role infections play in autoimmune diseases and many, many other conditions (CFS and fibro included).
