I'm a mess

I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia.  I also have bipolar disorder, dissociative identity disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, severe anxiety, and arthritis.  I am taking so many meds it's ridiculous:  Seroquel, cyclobenziprine, Celebrex, Lamotrigine, Prozac, Diclofenic, Simvastatin, and Levothyroxin.  My doctor does a complete blood work up every three months and doesn't seem concerned about the combination of meds that I am taking.  I know some of these are also prescribed for fybromyalgia pain.  If I hurt this much while taking all these medication I hate to think about how I would feel without them. Does anyone know anything about how these medications react with one another and which ones are supposed to help with fibromyalgia pain?

Lowering cholesterol artificially with a statin drug (in your case Simvastatin) is linked to numerous adverse side effects.

An amazing article on Dr Mercola's website called "The Dark Truth About the "Wonder Drug" Millions Swear By" written by Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a senior scientist at MIT, posted 12 dangers of statin drugs.  One of the dangers listed:

"#8. WebMD Article on Muscle Pain and Weakness: This relatively benign article on WebMD provoked a firestorm of responses; each comment tells the story of another tragedy unfolding. To understand the biological mechanism behind the process by which statin drugs destroy muscles, see this link.

Here's a typical comment from that site:

"I was prescribed Crestor 20mg 2 weeks ago with cholesterol level 7.6. First time on any medication. After approx. 4 days I started to experience severe muscle pain, thigh, buttocks, arms, legs to the extent that I can hardly get out of bed in the morning. Have been back to Dr. who advised stopping tablets. Have been off them for 3 days, very little difference. I am hoping these pains will go away soon. I will never take a statin drug again - would rather take the healthy option, diet and exercise and take the risk. Have never felt so bad. Usually very healthy, fit person."

I'm taking 14 different drugs.  It seems like a lot but like you I have Fibromyalgia, Depression, M.S, Epilepsy just to name a few.  Now the M.S causes a lot of my problems since it's also a side effect from the meds I have to take.  I don't see Cymbalta on your list.  I see Celebrex for pain in joints, Levothyroxin for thyroid?, and I know that Prozac (which causes complete disinterest in sex...been there got rid of that one) for your anxiety.  I also know that Seroquel if used for the same thing but I also know it's used to aid in sleep and WEIGHT GAIN..got rid of that one as well..I don't need the help in that department..lol

As for you physician, well I'm hoping you see a neurologist as well as a therapist to help with some of the anxiety issues.  Trust your instincts.  If you're not getting the results from you physician switch to someone that does make you feel better..I've gone through several neurologist's til I FELT COMFORTABLE.  Even my primary, I actually meet them BEFORE I get sick.  If I feel I know more about my disease then HE'S/SHES not for me.

Do you're homework.  Find out their background.  Where did the go to school as well as their residency.

If you're with CVS for your pharmacy, their system is to catch conflicts.  Next time you go to the drug store, ask the pharmacist.  They are so willing to help you.

Good luck and I hope I was able to give you some answers.
