Hi;
I was wondering if anyone was planning on going to the Reno Nevada FMS/CFS conference this coming March???
I am planning on going to this special conference.... I have been diagnosed with both of these disorders and I am sure it will be very benefical to all of us that suffer from one or both. Surely, we will find a lot of answers to a lot of our questions....
Take care; Sonflower
What does !;^) mean? ? ? First please let me be 100%clear this is only my experience of what has worked for.me. The two reference I am about to give you is NOT about discounting that Fibra is real Lord knows I know it's real .www.joycephelpsstephens.com She practices several arts the one I am most interested in is the one Holistic Massage Another lady ( i apologise I have not found her e-mail address because she is family and I rearly need it ) wanda boone wellness center Holly springs NC Wanda has a tetox Juice that I take every day You are right it would be a tragic day if fibro was ever not reconized as a crippling disease.I would never support such a study But I stand my ground Tramamatic events from childhood do produce toxins in the body. and these memories are stored there. If they didn't we would have to remove pts disorder from the books Feel free to pm me if you would like to contine this chat
I know there was a recent study trying to link childhood trauma to CFS. In my opnion, it was bogus and biased. There are many special interest groups trying to say that these conditions (fibro, CFS and even some autoimmune) are not physical disorders. And you know what happens as a result ? Insurance companies can get off paying people disability benefits.
This is the bogus study that I was referring to. I heard they used old and faulty information. Anyhow, the only thing that I DO know is that I was never abused or had any childhood trauma. My childhood best friend, who is a psychologist, would agree with me ! ; ^ )
Childhood Trauma Tied to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Viral infections in your throat sounds like Epstein Barr Virus. Once you have the virus, it remains dormant in your throat and body and can be reactivated. Epstein Barr is linked as a trigger to fibro and chronic fatigue.
I have read a study and know someone personally who had reactivated epstein barr virus while she was pregnant and the epstein barr virus was passed to the fetus. It was confirmed when her child was born and had tested positive for epstein barr. Her child has neurological problems such as seizures and she is unable to talk. So, there may be a genetic link or it may be the passing of viruses onto your child during pregnancy. Just something interesting to think about.

I haven't heard about this type of study. If you would post a link to one of them, i'd certainly be interested in reading about how memories are stored in cells and go on to produce symptoms of fibromyalgia. Very interesting.
Take care,
Breeze
I just spoke to my daughter on the phone and she is in misery. She was telling me how and where she was hurting and I cried. She has an appointment Friday with her Rheumy, and I'm terrified she is going to have Fibro. I'e noticed the signs when she comes to town, and it breaks my heart. She has two young children, her daughter is 9 and the baby is almost 4. My Rhuemy told me that he felt that it might be genetic. But like Breeze said there is no proof.

Don't think I'm crazy but in your childhood was there any kind of trama that you indured Perhaps an alcoholic a divorce the death of someone close to you sexual abuse. Studies have found that these memories get stored in the cells of the body and produce in 80% Fibro....These questions are usually asked of those who have no family history. Fibro also strikes those who are A Type and live highly productive but stressful lives.....I write this because ther is no fibro in my gene pool..But I have experienced all of the above....Maybe this wil help you on your quest....Be Blessed Freebird227
There is some suggestion that FMS may run in families, but there hasn't been any evidence to prove it's hereditary. Genetically, since your cousin had FMS and your Aunt had RA, you may have had a predisposition for it...but there's no proof of this to date that I could locate. I know that in my background, my Aunt had a muscle disorder (but I don't know what it was) and I have pretty much followed the same health path as my mother. You commented that you have a lot of viral infections in your 20's. This could have been the very thing that set the illness off. You're very fortunate if you don't get the flu or anything like that because it really takes a toll on the body when one has these illnesses.
Take care and feel better soon.
