Live Chat in the Thyroid Forum Tonight !!!

I hope at least some of our members will be able to attend. As I've said over and over again.... the majority of fibro & CFS patients have a low thyroid. (see source below) Anyway, this is the link for information on this exciting event tonight !!! I thank the people in the thyroid forum who included us in this event.

"The mix of treatments needed varies from patient to patient. There are some abnormalities that are common. For instance, close to 100% of individuals with these syndromes have low thyroid. This is, however, usually not picked up on the standard blood tests because the TSH is not elevated in these individuals due to pituitary dysfunction. Many of these individuals will also have high levels of the anti-thyroid reverse T3, which is usually not measured on standard blood tests. In addition, the majority of individuals can also have a thyroid receptor resistance that is not detected on the blood tests. Consequently, thyroid treatment, especially with timed release T3, is effective for many patients. T4 preparations (inactive thyroid) such as Synthroid and Levoxyl do not work well for these conditions."

hello it seems most people on here have thyroid problems. i have been tested but only by normal blood tests and this comes back ok. I have had problems since a child but the symptoms have worsned since i have aged (32) My mum has only just decided to mention that my grandfarther had thyroid problems,. my grandad was beening treated for diabets as he sufferd what i figure similar symptoms to myself. But what has baffeled me is that after he fell of scafolding and broke his collar bone the doctor told him that he didnt have diabets after all and it disappeard. the doctors where baffled by this as my grandfather had been taking insolin for years??? It is not possable to cure diabets and if you give your self insolin when there is no dibets it will kill you apparently?? he also had a irregular heartbeat. this has made me think that i do have a thyroide problem but am not sure how i will get this test am in the uk.  although i have now been dx with fm and cfs my doctor has only given me anti depresants and painkillers and because my bloods come back normal he wont send me to a specialist... i have chaned my doctor eight times in the last year and half and i get the same responce...more bloodtests..do you know how or what i will ask for when i go again.

hope you having a good daytoday
take care

Sorry I missed the live chat last night.  I haven't been well enough to spend very much time reading the forum, so I ended up being unaware of this live chat that you're talking about.  I can barely do this today--and not all that well.

Now here's a funny thing...  well its not funny haha but funny coincidence

In a recent ultrasound (just checking my neck to ensure that the blood supply to my brain wasn't restricted) they noticed some thing on my thyroid which I'm going to the hospital next Tuesday to have a needle stuck into it for a sample to be taken.

All blood tests have shown no thyroid problems, but after reading PlateletGal's post.... I'm not at all surprised.
