My crotch is broken. Can anyone relate?!

I know the title of my post is a little strange, but I really would appreciate some feedback on my little issue. It began with a bladder infection, which cleared up fine with antibiotics. Then, maybe two weeks after the UTI cleared, I had what I thought was another infection. Burning, discomfort, all that yummy stuff. Went to the doc, peed in a cup, and there was no detectable infection.

The bladder symtoms cleared on their own, but I was left with pain in my lady parts. Not really up inside, more on the labial tissue surrounding the...area. No discharge, no itching, just extreme sensitivity. Nothing is visibly wrong with the area, there is no redness or swelling.  STD's have been ruled out, and my doc performed a pap and said everything looked fine inside as well. I'm wondering if the crotch pain is related to my fibro. One of the defining symtoms of my fibro is extreme skin sensitivity on various parts of my body. Never had it hit my crotch before, but there's a first time for everything, I guess. Anyone else have painful hoo-ha syndrome as a part of their fibro symtoms, or am I just a freak with a broken vajajay?

Thanks!

Oh my goodness, your issues sound exactly like mine.  I have fibromyalgia and vulvodynia, and my vulvodynia started under the same circumstances as yours, that is, after a bladder infection.  Sorry you have the problem...I hope you are feeling better by now, as I know this is an old post.

Don't know how I got to this site but I'm glad I did. I have fibro as well and a similar problem as yours. I was wondering if any of the readers have deep vaginal pain. It's like electric pulses going up the vigina and as you can imagine very painful. I've had three and each seems to be worse. So much has happened to my body in the past year that I don't know what I'd do if it all hurt at the same time. I'm thinking of trying an over the counter product called SAM-e. Go to google and type in SAMe bennefits and side effects or www.nutrasanus.com/sam-e.html
This product has had good results in a double blinded study with people with fibro. Some of the beneficial effects are: decrease in fatigue, pain sensation, stiffness and mood. The researchers suggested taking supplemental B6, B12, folic acid and possibly trimethylglycine...I have to look that up. For fibro the dosage is 800 mg per day but it doesn't say how much of the others. *Please read the intire article and come to your own conclussion. I need to check with my doctor before starting this because I have a mild heart condition.

As Suet69 mentioned earlier.  I too have lichen sclerosis.  It went undiagnosed for yrs during which time tissue was lost.  I had a gyn check me over and over due to horrible itching and pain to be told .....Its all in your head. Finally this last yr (what took so long?) I saw another doctor who took one look and told me lichen sclerosis.  There is treatment but I can not get back the tissue damage done.  Try another doctor just in case.  I do agree we are more sensitive (with Fibro) and it could also be the yeast but usually even a so so doctor can see that.  Good luck don't stop looking for the right doctor!!!!

I've had that pain intermittingly for a long time..  I believe it is fibro-related as I experience it more when I am having a flare.  There are, for me, two distinct locations: vaginal and urethral.  I experience the latter right at the end of urinating;  but I test negative for infection.  I have noticed that Diet Pop, which I love, seems to make the latter one worse.  I think it is one more location for nerve endings to overreact, or react inaccuately.  No place on (or in) my body is immune to pain.  I'm really glad it moves around, for if I had it all at once, I'd want to die. Don't let yourself be talked into another problem;  if your tests are all OK, it's probably fibro-pain, I would think.

Hi, I'm seeing a GREAT doctor in Boston about my vagina/vulva issues. Her name is Dr. Elizabeth Stewart and she has a book too -the Vbook -every woman should read this book. Check it out or google it -they have it at Barnes/Borders and on Amazon I believe. Ne who, I have been diagnosed with a form of vulvodynia... Not fun at all!! Sex is unbearable and the daily discomfort makes me not even want to go to work... Sucks big time -I do go to work but let me tell you it's getting harder and harder especially when I have a crappy day at work or a flare up... My husband and I wanted to try to get pregnant soon and now that's been put on the back burner because of the medication I'm currently on to resolve my burning and sensitivity. Drop me a line and I'll come back with some more advice/tips to ease the pain later... Gotta run right now... Well, I can't exactly run = b/c running = pain.. If you are in the same boat as me you know what I mean...

Hmmm. I thought I posted a reply this morning, but it's gone. Let's try again...

Thanks muchly for all the replies! I've come to conclude I prolly have vulvodynia. Luckily, my symptoms have greatly abated, and only seem to flare up mildly when I'm stressed. Not had an episode as bad as the first, thank goodness.

Although I don't wish this problem on anyone, it's relieving to know I'm not alone! Thanks!!

Hi, just thought to let you know that I have Vulvodynia and it sounds a lot like other people with vulvodynia.  My Vulvodynia is caused by injury, but there are many people who get infections and then get vulvodynia.

I would check with your gyn about the vulvodynia.  And if you go to vulvodynia.com, it will give you more information.  My doctor was the first to diagnose the vulvodynia and possible fibromyalgia.  Then it was more confirmed in the last few months.

Hubby makes a joke that he lives the sex life of a priest.  Poor dear as supportive as he is hasn't had sex in almost 10 months.  But he understands it is a medical problem.  Go to the website and see if there is a doc in your area that specialized in vulvodynia.

I know I just posted a comment confirming that I have the same symptoms you do along with fibro. However, I wanted to make another post because I just checked my email & found a request from the National Fibromyalgia Association to take a survey (survey is @ http://www.fmaware.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=6821).

Interestingly enough, the survey asked about various symptoms & conditions that fibro sufferers encounter, and one of the conditions listed was VULVODYNIA. I looked up VULVODYNIA, and found the following on a site (www.vulvodynia.com):

"Vulvodynia, also known as vulvar dysesthesia, which literally means pain, or an unpleasant altered sensation,  in the vulva. It is characterized by itching, burning, stinging or stabbing in the area around the opening of the vagina. Pain can be unprovoked, varying from constant to intermittent, or occur only on provocation such as attempted vaginal penetration with sexual intercourse, a condition also known as vestibulodynia, previously known as  vulvar vestibulitis syndrome.

Symptoms may be highly localized at certain points or may be quite diffuse and may range from mildly irritating to completely disabling. While a distinct sore, or area of redness may be visible, often the vulva and the vagina show no abnormalities or infections on gynecological and/or dermatological evaluation. Unfortunately, many doctors are unaware that these conditions even exist, and may mistakenly suggest to patients that this is a psychological condition. It is common for women with vulvodynia to suffer for many years and see many doctors before being correctly diagnosed."

Not only do I hope this helps you and others. But, I think its important to note that the National Fibro Assoc. recognizes that women diagnosed with fibro may also have problems with vulvodynia.

I was finally diagnosed with fibro last year after at least 6 years of going to various doctors/specialists for what seemed to be ongoing health chaos!  Nonetheless, I've had virtually identical vajajay symptoms that you're describing, which has gone unexplained by my gyno because every test (including a fungal) has come back negative. So, perhaps it is the fibro.  Unfortunately, all I can offer will sound a lil' crazy but its ultimately the only thing that has worked for me--1) strong pain killers & 2) get rid of anything stressful (just block it all out or remove yourself from stressful people/situations). Believe it or not, #2 works better than drugs.  Best wishes & hope you feel better!

I too have the same pain you are describing.  The pain is unbearable at times and forget being intimate when it is flaring up.  I was diagnosed with fibro app. 2 years ago and everytime this occurs is when my fibro is flaring up.  I too have no type of infection, STD, etc...  Hope this is helpful!

Since you have no redness and no itching, I just wonder if you may have incredibly painful vericosities, or vericose veins in the labia.  These ache like no tomorrow.  Every now and then, mine act up, but they were a constant nightmare with every pregnacy I had.  I am so D U N, done having kids!  You've probably seen a GYN.  Can they rule out a clot or vericosity?  If you do have one, or a couple, perhaps they could treat them with laser.  All I got was Support Hose!!!   Hopefully, a month and a half later, you aren't suffering with this any longer.

I actually joined this forum because I read your post.  I have Fibromyalgia and suffer from  lichen sclerosis.  It is an autoimmune illness that can attack the "lady" parts.  It causes horrible burning and itching.  It seems to get worse with moisture (like hot weather).  I notice a rough spot where the pain is the worst.
Lichens is mainly a skin disorder.  It  causes white patches and rough patches on the skin, especially the chest area.    I have noticed the white spots starting on my chest.  The good news is that it is treatable.  There are a few different creams that will work.

By the way this is passed on to sexual partners and from sexual partners.  The probiotics or acidophillus is an excellent help as Crochetya mentioned.

I agree totally with Meself. The only thing she did not say and I would like to add is go
for the yogert with culltures, or accidaphilis pills. This helps to replace what your strong
antiboitics killed. The good bacteria. Also, throw away your panties you wore while you
had this going on. The bad stuff lives in the fabric. If this isn't the answer, you may have a reaction to your soap. My ob/gyn says that young girls get this because of the scented bubble baths and the thongs. I have found that basic Dove is good because it has a good ph. Good Luck!!

I'm not a doctor but it sounds like you may have a fungal infection.  The skin hurts feels similar to the way a brush burn may feel?  This can clear up by using an antibacterial soap like dial.  Clean the area well 2-3x daily.  If it feels dried out you can apply a little neosporine.  Clean off your toilet seat real well too it is contageous and you can get it back.  If you have sore skin on your body you may have candida.  Using a good antibacterial soap like dial can ease the discomfort.  Stay away from yeast foods like breads and pizza.  Avoid sugar too.
