My doctor appointment today.

My doctor appointment today.

So I went in for my appointment today and it felt really good to have all my questions and concerns written down so I didn't forget any of my questions.  He ended up prescribing me zanaflex for my muscle pain (was on robaxin, but it didn't work well) and Ultram ER for daily pain.  I know a lot of other people on here take Ultram, but I have never taken it, so it should be interesting to see if it helps me.  He also told me that he is fine with giving me lidocaine injections if I choose, or he can call in a script for lidoderm patches that I can put anywhere on my body that hurts.  I may also give Lyrica a second chance.  It didn't work well for me before but I'm thinking about trying it again and taking it very slow when upping my dosage.  Any thoughts?

Hi;
   My Rheumy also tride Lyrica and it made me feel so sick and my eye sight blurred horribly. He put me on Ultram ER 200mg once a day and I'm now taking Ultram ER 200mg x 2 a day. It helps a whole lot, although nothing ever takes the pain completely away. I also use Lidoderm Patches. I use 3 a night one on my lower back and one behind both knees.
    I hope the Ultram ER works for you. Good luck.

It's so good that you wrote your questions down so you were prepared for your visit.

I am on Lyrica and have very good results (although it does play with my cognition a bit).  It is wonderful for the neuropathic pain and aches.  I have been on Ultram for 3 yrs. now, due to an injury that resulted in permanent chronic pain.  I don't take the ER because it is more expensive than 4x a day dosage.  The only thing I can advise is that you make sure you take the medication 'as directed'.  If you are on it for a long period of time you will develop a dependency, so you don't want to take any more than necessary.

Like Katt mentioned, it dulls the pain, but doesn't make it disappear.

Wishing you the best of luck and hope this plan works well for you.

I forgot to add, with the Ultram you may want to have a stool softner added to your plan.  Ultram tends to make one constipated and you don't want that.  :-)
