New symptoms

I have been diagnosed with fibroyalgia and am learning to deal with the pain through medication... but, a new problem has come up with my skin.  Does anyone else have any skin problems with their fibromyalgia or maybe this is just unrelated?

What kind of skin problems are you having? is it a side affect to any of the meds? i have been given a dx of possible CFS, still having tests done to rule everything out. i get these weird swellings on my fingers, they become red, hard and sore. i never got these before i became ill. i stil haven't had an explanation for them.

good luck with your search for answers. have you shown your probs to your Dr?

Thanks for answering...the problems I am having is a rash that ends up turning into sores that take awhile to heal.  My doctor has seen this and thinks it's a reaction to either sun or artificial sweeteners.  I had read where you can have skin problems and sensitivity with fibroyalgia and wondered if it was common.  The skin problems seem to only be on my forearms and face... where I get the most sun exposure.

hi,

i'm not a Dr but have you been checked for Lupus? the symptoms can be very similar to fibro and from what i have read you can get skin problems especially where exposed to the sun. there are pictures on the net, maybe you could see if it looks similar to yours.   just a thought, don't want to worry you but its always worth checking everything out.  another good fibro resource is immunesupport.com, you may get more info there about it being a common symptom.  good luck and hugs.

You should speak with your doctor or rheumatologist and ask to be tested for Lupus. As stated by a prior postee - this sounds more like Lupus than fibromyalgia. I have suffered from fibromyalgia for the past 16 years and have never experienced skin rashes.

I am learning about Fibromyalgia and all the multiple symptoms that come with it. As I understand every part of the body can be affected by fibro, I get horrible skin rashes that burn and hurt. The Dermo called them stress blisters they flare up when I am stressed or ill. So from what I have learned, Yes your rashes can and most likely are related to your Fibro. I get them on  the palms of my hands, bottom of my feet, in side of my elbow and on my scalp which is the worst. Not everyone who has fibro will neccessarly get the rashes.
