Oral symptoms.

Although I have many symptoms related to several diagnosed conditions, the latest symptom I have developed over the past six months or so is peeling skin in my mouth. This includes from the hard palate and from around my gums where skin peels off several times per day.

About six months prior to the development of the peeling skin I also developed a mucocele near the back of my mouth which comes and goes a couple of times every day.

Added to this for several years I have had a geographic tongue, with red circles that move around to different parts of the tongue throughout the day. Even though this is called 'benign' migratory glossitis and I have it pretty much all the time, it seems to always worsen when I am more unwell.

It is hard to believe that all these 'oral' symptoms are as benign as inferred when I have so many other health issues happening! I have never been a smoker by the way.

Anyone got any clues? Much appreciated.

Thank you for your response Niko.

I am quite aware that benign means non-life or health threatening but for me the accumulation of oral symptoms has been puzzling. Geographic tongue (benign migratory glossitis) has predated the other oral symptoms I have, so I know of its 'apparently' benign nature although what is missing from the literature seems to be acknowledgement of it accompanying broader systemic disturbances. Not that this condition will affect or endanger my health per se but that it is reflecting deeper organic problems which are going on, is my theory.

I will be seeing my M.E./Fibro specialist this coming week so will mention my oral symptoms and see what he comes up with.

The psoriasis-like scenario is interesting as I do have psoriasis-like rashes from time to time. I am aware of the various psoriasis conditions including flexural psoriasis affecting the creases of the body but haven't heard of it affecting the oral cavity.

I have been broadly tested for many things but perhaps in the absence of being specific about oral symptoms, mycotoxins have not been on the radar. May follow-up on this!

Coincidentally I have recently started using coconut oil but will do some more research on it also.

Warmly Bronte

Hey Bronte,
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry about your health issues.
Let's see if there's something that will help.
I know nothing about benign migratory glossitis.
From the words we can arrive at the conclusion that this is not going to affect or endanger your health greatly,as it is benign. Migratory indicates change and movement and glossitis that affects your tongue.
From the symptoms you gave, it makes me feel it is like a psoriasis-like
condition of your mouth. Without going into a great analysis, an energetic imbalance due to stress levels will "spike"your condition and could be a causative co-factor. You need to distress. Meditation, Hypnotherapy,
reconnecting with nature - nature walks, camping, hikes etc. will help.
Have you been tested for mycotoxins?
If not then it might be a good idea to start with a simple Candida saliva test .Look it up on YouTube. If positive then you may proceed with further testing.
Meanwhile an anti-fungal diet supplemented with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
will prove beneficial. Use 2-3T of EVCO replacing ALL cooking oils as they are pro-inflammatory! Go to the coconut research website for details.
Also I strongly recommend "Oil Pulling" with EVCO! Your oral health and hygiene will be greatly improved! Oil pulling removes Billions of toxins and
offensive bacteria from your mouth!
Try those suggestions and let me know if you need more details.
Take care and post again soon
Niko
