Pain, more pain, exhaustion and no relief

Hi,

My sister was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome when she was about 17 years old.  She is now about to turn 30.  During most of her twenties we thought it went away, she was doing much better, but was more sensitive in general than most people.  Also, she found out that she had an undiagnosed birth defect: one of her kidneys was only working at 16%, after having an operation to correct the defect (the tube between the bladder and kidney was blocked) she had more energy and felt better.
But, in the last 3-6 months she has been suffering from an increasing number of migraines, getting colds monthly and becoming increasingly more tired (this may have something to do with the fact that she has been working as an ICU nurse, a very demanding job).  Finally, she has come to a point where she is in constant pain.  Not only to her joins ache severely and more than she has ever experienced, she suffers from lack of sleep and becomes tired from almost any activity.  We think she also has dysmenhoria, as she has very sever periods (it is in my family, pain so severe during period that we vomit in addition to other symptoms).  It seems that the symptoms that we are associating with the re-emergence of CF, if this is what it is, began with her period and then have not gone away.  Right now she is surviving on pain killers and sleeping pills and has not had any relief in at least a month, she is about to get her period and we are concerned the pain may be so severe that we will need to admit her to a hospital.  This is a young woman who hardly complains and has been noted for her high pain threshold by doctors in the past.  I would like to know if such a high level of pain that is constant is associated with CF or if anyone has other suggestions for what she may be suffering from.

With thanks,
Nicole

Sounds like your sister is going through , and to find answers one has to do his/her own research like reading books . My recommendations are -

Adrenal Fatigue - the 21st century health syndrome

From Fatigue to Fantastic

Google them up , They have escellent reviews on amazon

fibromyalgia , cfs and chronic pain are often mysterious . Reading these books will explain things and also details on how to recover are given . Nursing is a very stressful job and this alone will put a lot of strain on adrenal glands . For joint pains a herb called "guggul" has been used for thousand of years in ayurvedic medicine , cured my knee pains 90% or you may want to try opiate based painkillers as nsaid's have a disastrous effect on our bowels . All the symptoms sound like adrenal fatigue to me . Tell your sister to drink salt water (1/2 tea spoon salt in a glass of water) several times a day to boost adrenal function . There is also a product called IMMUNE26 made from egg powder and it is helping people with fibro / cfs , for reviews visit -

Pls try it , no harm and even help if your sister is that sick . Have her checked for lyme disease and thyroid/adrenal function tests...

I will keep her in my prayers . Hope her condition will improve soon ..

so sorry to here your sister has been going through to same symptoms as myself, apart from having a fm and sleeping disorder (though never diagnosed until four months ago) from the age of five. I can relate to your sister as i have had to go to a&e dep for years with sickness so severe they have to put me on drip and morphen and then send me home for me to be re- admited 4 hours later. am struggling with my doctor still and i have had to report him for the lack of care and hopefully am of to see a specialist that i have demanded for over two years but no joy till the P.A.W.L done something for me. I have sufferd with horrendous period for twelve years and they have only gotten worse. usualy waking in the morning being sick and doubled over with the pain sweats chils the usual falling on the bathroom floor half dressed for 15 minutes while my body recoverd. and two months i was given Mefenamic acid tablets for my periods these have been a miracle for me as my cycle was so heavy and would last for about 17 days. last month as soon as i felt my period i started to take them and this was a unbelevabe change i had no sickness no diorhear no pain and the blood was light. my period only lasted for 5 normal days the same this month and this has given me two weeks of my life back. am still sleepy but i expect that with fm and me. am hoping these will work for your sister.i just dont know why i wasnt given these sooner. your sister is lucky to have you looking out for her. it does sound like she may have fm. does she have any tingling in feet hands, blured vision any other symptoms? hope this helps, take care
