Pain Meds

I have to sign an opiate contract with my dr to receive narcotics my partner of 10 years smokes so I tested + now they weaned me off my peracet 90-60-30 my pain level is about a 9 most days now hard time getting out of bed new thing knots in my wrist painful. My state decrimialized smoke to a civil offense I don't smoke but who's going to tell a 300lb 6'3" man not to smoke says it's his way to relive pain. But I can't get my pain meds do you think since it's been decrimialized  I can get them back?

Hi, Fibromylagia is finally being accepted in the medical community. I guess they figured that ALL us people didn't just have a meeting and decide on what hurts the most, but we really do have a real medical problem!  I still have people telling me that I should just "go on out when I'm in pain, that I'm going to hurt whether I stay at home or not!".  I told them if I hear that one more time, I'm going to throw up...all over them...lol. Noone knows how Fibro hurts(I guess that's what you're speaking of), but the ones who have it. good luck, Willow

I am so sorry you are having a hard time. I think thats horrible weather you smoke or not is your choice. pot is being legalized because it does help some with different symptons, but to take your pain meds away is cruel, I am in constant pain I would deffentley go crazy with pain if I didnt have my meds I will pray for you I dont know what state u live in but I would go to another dr.

I think that the majority of members have heard that phrase..."...it's all in your head" or that we suffer from a psychological illness.  I think spending a lifetime going from one physician to another, without any type of diagnosis or hope, will certainly leave one feeling depressed.  Chronic pain alone causes depression.

You won't find any problems here with someone not listening.  We are all here due to a commonality and need others who honestly understand how much we suffer.  It's often difficult to gain the empathy or concern from those who feel we look ok...therefore we are ok.  I think that old saying "You can't judge a book by its cover" would apply, because our bodies don't feel well.  We do understand the pain and you can come here anytime and find comfort with those who are going through similar issues.

I'm glad to hear that you are active with your community.  I think it helps to not be idle and bingo certainly distracts the mind a while.  I will keep you in my prayers and I hope you feel better soon.

Please take care.

well i feel for u being in so much pain.......... i know how it feels.  my pain has been really bad lately cause of no pain medication... till i see the doctor anyway.  i doubt if you will be able to get your medicine back at least with that doctor anyway.  i dont mean this a mean way but i would not take any chances in any way or how or whatever that would make my doctor take me off of pain medicine.  couldnt he go maybe smoke in the bathroom or near a vent... i dont know to much about things like that so i dont know.  but i recently quit smoking cig, because of my health and my son smokes and he knows that i cant be around it so he'll go to the basement or stand in the kitchen by the stove vent...and i dont smell it or anything. he smokes cig. by the way.  but maybe u can go to another doctor or something.... i hope you can fix the problem .. i know what its like to be taken off meds and its no fun!!  doctor long time ago took me off of my meds cause i went to a female doctor for other things and she put me on ambiem for sleep and i had no idea that it was a controlled substance and there went my contract!!!
but i found another doctor.. it took her awhile i guess to trust me but she finally gave me medicine for pain.. thank god!!  i hope everything turns out ok for you!! take  care ! ! ! !

Sorry you are having probs. getting your pain meds.  If I understand your question, your partner smokes pot and you tested positive.  Because of this you can no longer get your pain meds.  This is a legal question and you would do well to discuss it with an attorney in your area.  One would have to be familiar with the criminal laws governing your state.

I  hope you can get the situation resolved so you will feel better.
