Parents refuse to take to doctor?

Hi, I recently posted a question titled "Help! I can't take it anymore!", I got a few supportive answers, which I appreciate ALOT!, but now Im having problems with my parents. Its not that they don't want to take me to the doctor, its that they refuse to believe anything "abnormal" (AKA: never heard of/seen of) before is wrong with me! Each day is hard just doing chores, but then adding the school play, and homework makes it even harder! And of course, they call it, "adolescence" or "just being a teenager". If every teenager feels like this, then teenage-hood is WAAAYYY harder than anyone told me it was gonna be! How do I get my parents to understand?
(thanks for listening to my rant)

I just wanted to update! I did not go see a doctor because I predicted the lab results; normal. frusterating isn't it? Unfortunately I let it control my life for awhile, but then my grades/friends/teachers/family shook me hard enough and I knew I needed to get back on track. I'm still struggling, but I'm trying to get as close as possible to where my life used to be a year ago. Thanks so much, all of you!

Kitty,
Since you are only 14, I agree with going to see your school nurse.  I hold to my instincts and my instincts say you may have mononucleosis. I know is common to get mono. at your age just like the chickenpox are common. Do you know if anyone else in your school has mono?  Maybe if you saw the school nurse and described your symptoms and then asked him/her if anyone else in the school has complained of the same symptoms, he/she could offer some guidance and convince your parents.  My parents did not believe me either when I had mono., but I just kept complaining until they finally took me to a doctor and sure enough it was mono!  The best thing you can do for mono is to get a lot of rest and avoid physical activity.

My Best to You,

Hi kitty,

Since your parent's will take you to a physician, you may want to consider finding a physician in your area who knows how to diagnose and treat CFS and fibromyalgia. You can google, "Co-Cure's Good Doctor List" and should be able to find a physician on their site who practices in your city or town.

Keep in touch.... and good luck !!!

I am not sure where u live, but the school nurse may be one option. They r there for more then watching students trying to ditch a class they weren't prepared to take a test for!!
Go see her/him and see if they r familiar with the symptoms u r having. May b they can speak to ur parents. Also, ur dr should be able to "spot" something.

Good Luck

I totally feel for you, it's such a difficult position to be in when family don't believe that anything is wrong with you. Maybe you could research some of the possibilities it could be online and print out and show the results to your parents that way they can see that, what you've been dealing with is a real illness and that there are other people around both young and old, fit and unfit suffering with the same symptoms as you.
All the best Kitty!
