Poss. fibro according to cardiologist...any input?

Hello everyone!  I am a 29 yo female that has been dealing with possible fibro symptoms since I was pregnant with my son in April 2006.  I have chronic chest pains/pressure, pain in my lower jaw and all down my left side.  Left side of neck, shoulder, biceps/triceps, forearm and hand, along with my left foot.  I also have swelling of my left forearm and hand from time to time.  Chronic dizziness, lightheadedness, especially when standing up and abdomen tenderness in the upper quadrants.  I also have trouble sleeping and when I do fall asleep I never feel rested when I wake up, whether I sleep 2 hours or 8 hours.

I have been to the ER numerous times thinking I was having a heart attack since all my symptoms are on the left side.  Been under the care of a cardiologist who has performed a lot of testing on my heart, all except angiogram because all my other testing is so unremarkable that he finds no point in putting me through that.  I saw him 3 weeks ago for a follow up and he suggested that maybe I have fibromyalgia.  I have seen a rheumatologist also, but none of my bloodwork is real consistent for a fibro diagnosis according to him.  He believes this is all anxiety related and to pursue Zoloft, which he suggested last year but when I was in the hospital for fainting they told me they believe that it is not anxiety because anxiety would not cause swelling.

I have seen a cardiologist, rheumatologist, ENT, neurologist and a gastro doc.  The only thing that I have a definite diagnosis of is hiatal hernia w/GERD and an inflammed gallbladder which I had removed in Sept. 07.  My GI doc believes that chest pressure can be related to those but he isn't too sure about the other symptoms.  I go to my PCP on Monday and my cardiologist again on Tuesday and I would like some input about my symptoms to discuss with my doctors.

I have had so much testing, ranging from MRI's, to CT scans, scopes, bloodwork, x-rays, body bone scans and nothing is showing up!  My rheumatologist said maybe fibro, but no test proves it.  If anyone has ideas I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you so much for your time!

There is no bloodwork that shows fibro. Fibro is diagnosed by physical exam, and also by ruling out other diseases. Your rheumie can do the exam, but a diagnosis of fibro is contingent on there being pain at 11 out of the 18 Tender Points. You can Google fibro, and go to any of the fibro websites. Most if not all will show a chart of where these tender points are. You don't mention fatigue, generalised pain, and possible mental "fog" These are also parts of fibro, crushing fatigue being a major symptom. Most of your symptoms don't sound like fibro to me, but you certainly need someone to find out your problem. Have you seen a neurologist? I agree anxiety doesn't cause swelling! Im sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.
