I'm glad you posted. I don't have fibro (I have CFS), but I read all of the latest fibro research and supplements and nutrition seem to play an important role. I'm surprised at how many people here are posting and taking prescription medications only. The CFS/fibro experts all seem to recommend supplementation.

After battling the pain of Fibro for 7 years and trying all sorts of therapies and prescribed drugs, none of which really worked well or were worth the side effects, I heard about D-Ribose in a magazine and decided to give it a try. I have only been taking it for a couple of weeks and I have already noticed a change in my energy level and ability or recover more quickly from exercise.

The D-Ribose helped with my fatigue almost right away. I don't know which brand you bought, but definitely check the label to see what a full dose is. With one of the brands I purchased, I had to take 6 tablets !

Another supplement you may want to look into is Carnitine. I know my physician prescribed it for me and many other top CFS/FM physicians do the same, including Dr. Lapp:

Q: Do you use supplements in your treatment plans; and if so, which ones?

Dr. Lapp: Yes. My favorites are high dose (injectible) B12, NADH, Vitamin D, magnesium malate, DHEA, CoQ10, and carnitine – in that order. ProHealth has some really great vitamins that we recommend too.

How long did it take you before you felt a difference? I know a  lady that has had fms since 1996 and she takes natural calm she says it helps her. I have that on order thought i would try it first then the ribose.  Thank you for posting!

This is an article on D-Ribose. There were 41 patients involved in the study and after taking D-Ribose, 69% of the patients who completed the study had "significant" improvement in their symptoms.

I've taken D-Ribose in the past and found that it gives me energy and helps with the muscle aches.
