So much pain I don't know what to do

My back hurts so very bad!!!!  I hurts up the right side of my neck and behind my ear.  At times I feel like I have to lay down because my head weighs a ton.  I'm very constipated and all my muscles a twiching.  Thats ok.  That is bothersom but not painfull.  Sometimes during the day my chest will hurt and my heart will beat like a drum.  I feel like I might be having the big one.  If I go to the ER they will just treat me like I'm a drug seeker.  I don't really want drugs, I want any kind of treatment to make the pain bearable.  Will somebody please help me, I feel so bad and my doctor thinks its psycological.  I'm very scared!!!!!!  Any help right now might give me strength and uplift me for another night and day.  PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Hi there;
   I also have horrible lower back pain. Today has been a really bad day. My fibro flared out of control last night and I have been in so much misery all day. My pain meds didn't seem to be doing its job and I called my doc. He told me to double up on them until I get the pain under control. I'm beginning to feel a little ease but it's a long way from being controlled.

   Have you thought about finding a Rheumy to help you? You need to find a doc that believes that Fibro is real. I hope that yu find something to help ease your pain. Take care.

gentle hugs

I totally agree with Cindee56, I have the same problems that you have and take vicodin for pain every day.  My muscle twitching has decreased but my neck hurts everyday.  I do have protruding disc in my neck in C3-4, C4-5, C5-6, and C-6-7.  I am taking vitamin d which I believe has made a pain in my right hip down my leg here lately and was told by my rheumatologist to stay off of the Vitamin D for a week and then go back on to see if the vitamin d is really the culprit.  You need a really good rheumatologist and I am on my second one whom I have faith in right now.

Hot baths usually help my neck pain for a bit so that should be helpful.  As someone else mentioned, stress makes it worse although when you are in so much pain and no one believes you that makes the situation even worse.

I sleep about 4 hours a night and don't take naps in the day so I am tired, in pain and fatigued all of the time.

I hope everything works out for you because God's Grace is Sufficient for Today.

Just to comfort you, I have the same symptoms.  I always think I'm having a heart attack.  I get this terrible pain from my back all the way around to my chest.  I get neck, back, shoulder, upper arm pain.  At times my arms feel like they weigh 50 lbs. each.  I also have jaw pain.

My diagnoses are hypothyroid, low Vit.D, 3 herniated discs in neck and back, arthritis and fibromyalgia.  I am not big on drugs because I already take quite a few for chronic problems, but I take muscle relaxers, Tylenol, and when I get panicky, a Xanax.  I also use ice packs and a heating pad.  It's hard to sleep, I know.

Make sure they checked your thyroid and your Vit. D levels.  This can cause pain when not treated.  You could very well have fibro, but you need a doctor who understands and takes it seriously.

I've had a MRI of Tspine, lots blood work, and nerve study done.  All came back neg.  I guess my GP thinks since the test show nothing than I must be playing make beleive.  I can promise you this is not something I've come up with to gain sympothy.  I have three kids and a husband, it is not going to matter how bad I feel.  I still have stuff I have to take care of.  I have suffered depresion before, this is not even close.  My muscles in my legs keep twiching in adition to the pain in my back and neck.  The circulation in my feet has gotten so bad, two toe nails have fallen off.  How can I make that up?  I have an appt to go to a rheumatology clinic at a teaching hosp in my home state.  It is in 8 days.  I'm desprit they will help.  I just don't know what to do in the mean time.  Sometimes mostly later in the day the pain tries to overtake me.

I'm sorry to hear you're in such pain. I'm not clear, have you gotten a diagnosis for FMS/MPS or CFS? Why does your doc think it's psychological?Have they done adequate testing for the symptoms you describe? Does your anxiety stem from the fact you feel you're symptoms are not being addressed by your physician or taken seriously?

I can only suggest a few things. One, if you have no faith in your doctor, I'd be looking for another one. Perhaps it would be wise to ask first if he/she treats FMS/MPS/CFS. In the meantime, have you tried moist heat or soaking in the tub?Are you taking anything for pain such as Tylenol?

Try very hard to calm down. Do you know how to do deep breathing? Lay on your back and take deep, slow breaths from the diaphram. Try to relax and think of something or some place pleasant that you enjoy.

Take control of the situation by seeking the advice of another doctor. Try and remain positive--if you do have fibro, they should be able to help you with the pain even if it's physical therapy or massage. If you're experiencing a flare, they do ease gradually and go away. Of course, there are medications that may help also.
