To those who have tried Savella

Hi.  I was on Lexapro 10mg and PA took me off to start me on Savella.  I have had extreme dizziness and pounding heart and spots in front of my eyes when I stand up.  PA says this is from coming off the Lexapro.  I have also been nauseous probably 5/7days a week.  Did anyone else have nausea and dizziness possibly from the Savella?  If you did, can you remember how long it lasted?  Any other comments on your experience with Savella would also be appreciated.  Thanks!

Thank you both for your comments.  I too think that this PA may not be experienced enough.  I would really rather see someone who has had experience with Fibromyalgia and the different medicines to try.  When I called him he said it was due to coming off the Lexapro and I should try to "hang in there" until my appt on the 12th.  Of course if it's gets really scary I will go to ER.  I am so glad I will be switching doctors soon!

I was at 10mgs per day.  I took 1/2 tab a day for one week and then the next day after that week was over I started the Savella.

Hi,

I too was taken off Lexapro but a little at a time.
I was given Savella and it did need to be increased slowly or at a measured amount,
I quit taking the Savella because of the side effects you mentioned and then some.
I couldn't handle it.
I would call my Dr.

Hello mommyandwife,
I have never been on either of the medications, so I am sorry I don't have really great input to give you, but I wanted to check in on you to see how things were coming along for you? Did your PA taper you of the Lexapro slowly before placing you on the Savella? Or were you abruptly switched? Because if your PA did that it is very possible that is the reason for your incredible side effects.

If you are still sticking this program out and having trouble I would call your doctor immediately and tell him the problems your are experiencing. My guess is that you are just experiencing "withdrawal symptoms" and perhaps your PA was not experienced enough with the medications enough to place you on a proper taper before switching you over?

I know I had an experience with a PA who tried to place me on a medication that needed a very slow increase schedule due to side effects (Topamax just in case you ever decide to take it). That medication needs to increase no more than 25mg per week, otherwise you can have horrible side effects like severe anxiety, insomnia and confusion. This PA tried to increase me up to 100MG in one week!!!! OMG!!!

My point is contact your doctor if you are having bad side effects. Good luck to you.
