Too much Pain !!

My pain is in the neck, spine, middle of the chest wall, under armpit, shoulders and in my breasts. The pain is so severe that my blood pressure rises (once up 168/115). I went to ER 4 times in one week. They only give me inflammatory meds. I'm in so much pain that the only thing that calms it a little is a Ativan (until I see my doctor).
I've tried Gabapentine and didn't like the dizziness and craziness going inside my head. What other meds or natural procedure should I take?
Thanks in advance !!

Hi, I am Jana! How are you Today! I was Writing to you b/c your Pain Symptoms sound a lot like mine! I have so Much Going On Health Wise that I feel like I may go Crazy! I have Fibromyalgia & was Recently Diagnosed with Auto Immune Arthritis! I also have Hypothyroidism, IBS, Several Herniated & Bulging Discs, 2 Arachnoid Cysts in my behind my Eyes, & an Aneurysm! I have had Nothing but Bad Luck; Every time I go to the Dr. it's more Bad News! I am also Severely Depressed but I think that has a lot to do with the Pain I am in All Day, Every Day! I Never had Any Problems until about 8 yrs ago, when I was in a Motorcycle Wreck! The Dr. put me on Pain Meds and of Course I developed a Dependence on them and had to take More just to get the Same Effect! I am Now on Methadone & have been on it for about 6 yrs or so! It used to work Great but Now it Barely takes the Edge Off! I am Not one of those People who want to be on Pain Meds; I want So Badly to Not Have to Take Anything! I just want to get the Pain under Control so I can come off this Crap! All of these Meds have So Many Side Effects like Dry Mouth which has caused me to have my Very 1st Set of Cavities Ever and Dizziness, Headache, or Drowsiness! I take Gabapentin too but all it does is make me Dizzy & Disoriented! I hate not being able to get a Decent Night's Sleep & I wake up So Stiff that I feel like I have been hit by a Truck! Like you I have the Majority of My Pain in my Neck, Shoulders, Down my Arms, My Spine, & In My Hips! I Should just Name the Areas I Don't Hurt, it would be Quicker! My Neck Pain is like a Combination of Burning, Aching, & Throbbing Pain All at Once! Is that how yours is? I Honestly think that All My Problems are Related b/c I had Never Really Been Sick until the Age of 26, after My Wreck! They have to be Somehow Connected! I hear that Many People with Fibromyalgia Also have IBS and Many People with Bulging & Herniated Discs also have Fibromyalgia! One thing is for Certain Fibromyalgia & Pain is the Worst thing out of Everything! I have the "Fibro Fog" where I can't Concentrate or Get My Words Out! I Don't Sleep Well & I Hurt when I do ANY KIND of Physical Activity like going up the Stairs! I feel like a 90 yr old Woman & I don't know if I will Ever Feel Good Again! Well Sorry for this Very Long & Boring Comment! You just Sounded like you were going through a lot of the same things as I am! I hope you Feel Better & that you can find Something that helps you! I am here if you need someone to talk to! Have a Good Day & God Bless!  Jana

HI lin888.

What type of thyroid medication are you taking?

You could have high  rT3 or not converting enough T4 to T3.

What tests did you have?

Very low carb or grain free, may be an even better regime, albeit tougher to adhere to. Are you tough minded?
It will probably make a big difference, however, it may take some time to experience notable improvement.

Hang in there and stay strong!

Best wishes.
Niko

Hi Feather12.

While your experience is common, it is definitely not universal and not applicable to everyone who suffers from thyroid deficiencies.

Because you had your thyroid removed, you definitely needed thyroid hormone supplementation.
If you were not given the correct T4/T3 meds in proper ratios and in proper form because of the possible inaccuracy and flaws in the testing to monitor your response to your original treatment, you were likely undertreated and unnecessarily suffering from all those symptoms.

My suggestion is to anyone suspecting thyroid deficiencies is to get proper
testing.
Free T3, Free T4 and Reverse T3 are the only tests which indicate accurately cellular thyroid function and treatment ideally should be according to these tests, patients medical history and symptoms!

I don't agree with doctors diagnosing and treating patients according to T3,T4 and TSH which test and reflect serum levels only, as this could be dangerous.
So many people are in limbo, as they think their thyroid issues are ruled out or treated -specially ALL of the ones who have thyroid resistance/ type 2 hypothyroid-  and go to neurologists, rheumatologists, psychiatrists, gastro-enterologists, infectious disease specialists, etc. looking for answers.
It's such a pity that this is going on.

I just wanted to shed some light on this.
Thanks for posting!

Cheers!
Niko

I speak from experience.  I was never diagnosed with fibro. but after having my thyroid removed I experienced debilitating pain for years.  Because of the pain my blood pressure increased dramatically.  As a result,  I was taking a lot of BP medication.  All it took was Cytomel (a thyroid hormone) at a certain level in addition to Synthroid.  The pain is minimal and I am taking very little blood pressure medication.

am not a doctor but have your thyroid levels checked T3, T4 and TSH.  I can relate to all the pain you are experiencing.  I wish you all the best.  Give it a try.  All it takes is a blood test.  Good Luck!
