You asked about how 18 year olds can get SSI and disability. They can get it if they have a life threatening, or terminal illness that they are expected to die from, The illness must be of such a nature that they cannot work fulltime. Believe me, this is no picnic for these teens; most have to live at home because they can not make enough money to survive on their own. If they make too much money, they lose a portion of their Social Security, so they still don't make enough money to survive on. Most young people resent the fact that they are STUCK in this position. They can't afford medical care so they are forced to rely on Medicare and Medicaid, many doctors and dentists will not accept these two forms of insurance, the dentist's being the worst.

I applied last year in August and was denied in January this year.  But I do have a court date coming up in a few months so wish me luck.

Like, Mom2, I have stayed home with my kiddos more than I worked outside of the home so I assumed I wouldnt be approved for disability.

However, I have some very good friends from my fibro group and most of them have disability because of their FM. It was a hassle for them to get it done but that is the case with getting it for anything.

So anyway, you can get disability for FM. Good luck.

I am on disability for bi-polar-mania. But my GP says I could get ir for Dysautonomia if I needed to. I don't know about fibromyalgia.

I haven't even tried.........I quit working along time ago to raise my kids and only worked a short time a few years ago.

I don't think I qualify for ssi or disability.  But I do wonder how 18yr olds who have NEVER worked get ssi or disability.
