Went to this clinic.  Amazing provider......spent an entire HOUR with me.  Unlike any medical care I have ever received.  Susan Earl is amazing.  Finally got my life back after 12 years of being incapacitated.  WOW!

Which clinic did you go to? I am having a hard time finding a rheumatologist that will treat my fibromyalgia after my current doctor stopped accepting my new insurance. Thanks in advance.

I was diagnosed 10 years ago with "FIBRO" it's a very depressing and painful disease...I have had to spend time in the hospital due to depression because of the pain I have had to deal with. I had a doctor for 6 yrs after my diagnosis he up and closed his office and moved to colorodo, it has been so hard as some of you have said to find doctors that understand or even care what we go through. I have been being treated by another dr that was temporary that has now left his practice to pursue other things. So I am as well in a very desperate situation to find a doctor, the pain is hard to deal with. If anyone knows of a dr that is understanding and that does treat the pain I would appreciate any information you could give me. Does anyone know what type of medication Dr. Jain gives for fibro? I have been sent to dr after dr by other dr's and when you go for the visit they don't treat for that or give meds for that...in desperate need, PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN?

Thanks,
Cat

I am searching the web for a doc in memphis that treats fibro.  I've had it for 8 years(diagnosed), and I still have not been able to find a doctor willing to take the time to listen before writing a bunch of prescriptions. I'm in dire straits at this time because the Rheuma doc I was seeing for 8 years decided she know longer can help me but she put me on Duragesic pain patches and now no doctor wants to do anything to either keep me on or take me off; this has caused me to sink into a deep depression.  I can't imagine a doctor doing this to a patient but maybe this is how they do things here in Memphis(I'm a transplant)
I will check out Dr. Jain's office to see if they are accepting any new patients.

I see Dr Helmhout in Oxford.  She used to be in Olive Branch.  She has been treating my fibro for 8 yrs.  She is a amazing doc. Very open to all options.  I see a rheumy about 1 x a year but she takes care of everything else.

This is my first post.  I was reading that you have gone to see Dr. Jain.  I was wondering what medications you are taking for pain.  I have been taking tramadol for a few years now and it just barely takes the edge off my pain.  I feel like my life is on pause.  I get more depressed by the day.  It has caused problems in my marriage and all areas of my life.  I want to go back to school but I don't feel well enough to do so.  This has taken over my life!!!!  I really need help.  No doctor that I've gone to has helped.  I have had so many different diagnosis and treatments.  I know that doctors do not want to give pain medicine because of the wide spread abuse.   I've started to think that I will just have to accept this as my life.  I have tried cymbalta and it had no effect whatsoever on me.  I've been to physical therapy which was only very temporary relief.  I've had injections into my spine which helped for about a week.
I am so exhausted that I can't get anything done.  I wake up with a migraine almost every day!   It took me years to finally get this diagnosis and now I can't find a doctor who has the time to listen or cares.  I feel like some of them just think I'm a hypochondriac and some think I just want drugs.  It really hurts to be suffering so and feel as though no one really believes you.  Any help I can get from anyone would be greatly appreciated.  I pray everyday that I will feel better again.  I'm so thankful to you and everyone else for taking the time to share your stories and answer questions.  God Bless you all!!!!

Darlin, I had my first meeting with Dr Sunita Jain today and wanted to tell you about it.  Her office is in the Baptist Hospital Doctor's building in East Memphis/Germantown.
She's amazing, patient, and thinks outside the box.  She prescribed physical therapy in a warm pool at Baptist Rehab in Germantown, for me. I have my first appointment for that in two days.
Of the three memphis docs  I've gone to about this, Dr Jain is the first who actually did the pressure point test to determine whether my ailments are from Fibro.  I "passed the test". (weak grin)
She added Elavil (spelling may be off) to the meds I'm already taking to be taken at bedtime to deal with Serotonin and restful sleep.
PLS tell ur mom to give her a call.

I have my first appointment with Dr Sunita Jain this coming week.  According to my next door neighbor, who does all her scheduling, she has many fibro patients.  It only took 3 weeks to get an appointment, which I thought was very good.
I've also seen Dr Kevin Merigian, he treats EVERYTHING.  Alas, I can no longer afford him. Few insurance companies cover his radical methods of diagnosis and treatment. The BEST thing I ever got from him is B-12 shots for energy. I went in telling him I truly beleve I have a systemic candida infection and he never approached it the way I had expected. He puts every patient, no matter what the ailment, on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.  You may be able to find the book online.
I'll look for this thread after seeing Dr Jain and post about my appointment next week so your mother will have more information .

http://www.fibroandfatigue.com/ call their 800 number and talk to someone there, I bet they'd have a suggestion for someone in your area.. I agree with checking Hormone levels but also have them check for Candida and she may need to do a liver cleanse. There are so many things affected by our illness and they really have to check everything....  I hope she feels better

Who is your suggestion? I have to find a new doctor because the one that I have seen doesn’t take my new insurance.
