fibromyaglia

My mother and my step father both have fibromyaglia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and multiple chemical sensitivity.
I have noticed myself to be sensitive to chemicals as well, I also am sensitive to cat spit, making it hard to pet my cats but also questioning if thats what may be the cause for the chemicals bothering me(to do with perfume.) What I'd like to know is could I possibly end up with it since my mother has it? My brother ended up having it too I believe.. as well I get a lot of muscle pain, mainly in my back and legs.

My mother got the chemical sensitivity due to living on a farm and pesticides being sprayed, she got pesticide poisoning. You are right however, on the cfs. That could be a factor. I don't exactly find myself feeling like I have the flu, I do get over heated though and exhausted lately.. more so than before. I didn't use to be sensitive to cat hair but now some hair bothers me and makes my skin itch, which I noticed my sensitivity to chemicals go up around the same time, thats why we assumed = cat spit.

My parents don't have a specialist, in fact I wish I could find them the help they need.. cause we surely do not get it.. and I wish I could help them, having 3 illness's is not fun, and i've watched it my whole life, and had to deal with not having very much money, I don't want to see my kids go through the same thing(since I would like to have kids one day), nor do I want to stress as my mom had to. If any of them, I think fibromyalgia is what I would get. My brother ended up sick too, with that as well as cfs I think.. so thats why I questioned if I could possibly get it, since my mom was sick with all three when having me.

hi, I've been ill with this thing for years and I've never heard of it being hereditary. All the female side of my family are allergic to certain make-up, food chemicals etc. Since having cfs I can't stand the smell of bleach (makes me choke) and other stuff that didn't bother me before. Also, surprisingly, tea tree oil. I'm fighting for breath if I get near that.
You need to see a specialist , maybe one who looks after your parents, and voice your concerns.
it must be very hard to see both of them so poorly. At least get rid of the worry about yourself. Take care.

right, the chemical sensitivity is probably separate fro. the cat spit allergy.
the chemical sensitivity might be related to problems with adrenal function - if you can get a dr to investigate that...
not sure about genetic link, for the cfs, because for most people the cfs starts off as a viral illness that then never really goes away.
the fibro could have genetic factors.
i have cfs and have mild sensitivity to fumes and chemicals - i never had it before getting fatigue syndrome - and when my fatigue was at its worst, so was the chem sensitivity.
