Lyme testing is very unreliable.  You can test negative and still have it.  Especially if the test was the ELISA.  It's worthless.  Most doctors know very little about lyme so they order the initial screening test (ELISA) but don't realize it is a poor test.  So they tell you it's not lyme.  This is why it is important to see a lyme literate MD.  You can find one by going to lymenet dot org.  You can read and do your own research here.  You can also go to immunesupport dot com and read on FMS.  There is a post there now about how 8 out of 10 people with fibro really have lyme.

plan to cross that bridge when you come to it - have you been to the rheum. - i know unexplained pain is scary - what kind of pains are you having - fibro is not just joint pain - ignorance is bliss sometimes - wait till you get the dx - the only way we can help here is if you tell us what kind of pain your having - but we cant dx

my family doctor sent me to a rheumatologist after 6 months of unexplained joint pain which is progressively getting worse.he ordered many blood tests, many of which are coming back normal. i thought it was for sure lymes, but that was negative as well. he said if he can't find anything obvious as far as my labs he will probably classify it as fm. sounds kinda like a catch-all for unanswered complaints.this scares me, i was hoping it was something that could be treated with antibiotics or nsaids and be done with it. the more i read on fibromyalgia the more nervous I become. how do they treat the pain? is this a forever thing?

Ditto what fibromed said.  The blood tests just rule in or out other causes for your symptoms like autoimmune disorders etc..
