Although I have never heard of anyone being mis Diagnosed with Gout.. I have heard a million stories of mis dx.. So I would seek a second and third opinion before undergoing any treatment or taking any meds related to Gout. You know more than anyone what you feel inside your own body, and you also have the ONE thing Men dont have (no offense fella's) womens intuition. If you genuinely feel as though you have Fibromyalgia and have at least 11 of the 13 tender points on your body.. Empower yourself, if you have to go through 10 docs, and it takes time because you already have other things in your life, I gather your a mom. Try the internet, emailing Docs and asking first if they believe in FM, some dont.. I would also advise (from personal experiance) not to see a Rhuematologist to get a FM diagnosis..
I got my diagnosis by accident, I never walk into my Docs office without a diagram very similiar to what we have on this site with the pain tracker..
When I showed my handwritten "pain tracker", she was literally dumbfounded.. She left the room and returned with this massive medical book, she showed me a photos (diagram) of a human frame and where the points were that made you a candidate for fm, I had ALL OF THEM..
So, dont give up and research Gout as well.. I am going to read up on it,, I wish you well, and hope you find some relief soon..

From what I just read about Gout, it can be found in your blood, here is a site I read that from,http://www.medicinenet.com/gout/page2.htm
Hope it leads you in the right direction..

I've not heard of that type of misdiagnosis in fibro either.  However, prior to being dx'd with fibro I did have an incident where both of my feet swelled up and I had difficulty walking.  The hospital deemed it to be gout, but they really didn't know what was causing it.  I've not had it since.

Best of luck to you.

If you have gout, then you will have a high uric acid level. I've heard of instances where patients with fibromyalgia were diagnosed later on with gout. Its tough to say whether or not these people were misdiagnosed or have multiple conditions. Many of the people I've met, doing the same treatment that I was on, have multiple conditions.

Not misdiagnosed with gout, but misdiagnosed with fibro.

Good thing I did not settle for the fibro diagnosis. I believe it is a real disease, but I just knew I did not have it.

Seek more opinions if you are not comfortable, you are the only one who knows your body.
