my fibro heart

does fibro myalgia effect the heart because the reason i am asking this is because i could walk down the stairs but when i started coming up my heart was feeling like it was about to drop out of my but and it made me so scared that i had a panic attack right after that and I thought that i was having a heart attack. HElP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all I want to welcome you to MedHelp.

To answer your question, as far as I know fibromyalgia does not affect someone's heart.  But just like anything else, you could have heart trouble and fibromyalgia too.  If you really think your having heart trouble, you need to get to the ER and get checked out!

Went to dr thought I had heartburn and wanted med for it. When asked how it felt I told him strong pain center of chest, hard to breath, weakness & sweating. He said it was angina and did EKG. EKG was abnormal. Sent to cardiologist. He did nuclear stress test but heart was healthy. Said Abnormal EKG and angina was from neck, shoulder, upper back and chest prob from fibro.
Hope u feel better but do get checked out by dr.

Karajo is right.  if you are having chest pain or feel like you have something wrong with your heart go to the ER, don't mess around.  Otherwise go see your doctor and tell him/her what happened when you walked up the stairs.  Let us know how you are.

Hi!

I know how scary this is because this happens to me too! U r not alone!

I have been to ER several times because I thought I was having a heart attack for sure!

I get chest pains, heart palpitations, "skipped beats". I was referred to a cardiologist who did all the proper tests and had me on a heart monitor long term and says my heart is healthy and fine. He noticed that my heart rate does rise dramatically with very little exertion (walking on treadmill during stress test heart rate went up to 178 BPM - I never got to jogging). This is one of the other symptoms -  my heart races just from walking up a flight of stairs or sometimes just standing up will make it pound hard and race. He gave me a diagnosis of POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). It is an autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Basically stuff that your body is suppose to do automatically for you goes haywire and is not functioning the way it should. Your autonomic nervous system controls heart rate, breathing, digestion etc...all the things we don't have to think about. There is a ton of good info on it if you search online.

I know that many many people with Fibro also have these symptoms. I believe it is related.

Wow, my heart hurts too, I just thought that it was from the fibromyalgia.  Yesterday I had chest pains but it was in a different position.  The pain was above my breast and below my breast kinda in the ribcage area.  Does anyone have an answer to that?  Of course my whole body was hurting especially my legs.  It felt like my nerves in my body were spazzing.  Now today I just have an aching body and legs hurt when I walk.  I am so sick and tired of being sick.  sigh
