Oh wow this is all news to me! I am going to bring all of this up to my doctor as well. I have been so frustrated with these symptoms I am open to anything. I have heard of more extensive tests being done for these kinds of things. I'll give them all a try and hopefully will get some answers!
Blood test is unfortunately NOT accurate! Without getting into many details
blood tests can only measure TOTAL cortisol (bound and unbound) which
does not reflect
The recommended tests are saliva tests and your high score is highly
indicative of adrenal fatigue or adrenal exhaustion.
There are other screening tests you can do, but to my opinion you need to see your ND for this. If he's not trained to deal with adrenal/hormonal issues,
then you may want to get a referral for another ND who is.
Once you do the professional testing then you will be given a specific treatment plan.
A friend who had a complete hormonal panel done trhough her Endo and all was apparently fine...but her symptoms not only still persisting but worsening so I recommended certain tests that would be more accurate..
After she had an adrenal stess profile (urine test) through an ND, her estrogen was off the charts(estrogen dominance) and her cortisol was really low! getting better now with her treatment plan.
I'll send you the info on a pm.

I am planning to stay on the Candida diet for a good 6 months to a year. I do not consume any grains either. I will ask my doctor about the tartaric acid levels. I am not sure if that has been checked yet or not.
My score for the adrenal fatigue was 22.
The test I had done for the adrenals was done by an endocrinologists who just did a blood test. I am not sure exactly what the specific test was though.
Candida takes about one month on the average to eradicate on a comprehensive anti-candida regimen for every year of its presence in your body, which includes the years before the onset of any symptoms!
Do you consume any grains at all?
Have you been tested for tartaric acid levels? It's a tissue toxin and a simple urine test is required to find out your levels.
It is a malic acid antagonist, so it interferes with metabolism.
Malic acid supplementation in this case is recommended.
Organic apple cider vinegar-raw & unfiltered is the best source and good against candida also ,however, make sure it is safe for you to take , if you need malic acid.
Coconut oil has been a life saver in my family fighting candida, UC, gut dysbiosis and infections.
It is a great anti-fungal, also is anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-parasitic
Personally, I have been infection and illness free for a great number of years and I owe a big part of this to the consumption of coconut oil-virgin & organic- and "oil pulling" with it!
You may visit the coconut research center website for more details.
What tests have you done regarding adrenals?
Below there's the adrenal questionnaire which is a useful screening tool before I send you the links for professional testing.
Adrenal Questionnaire
Read each question carefully, and record the number next to a question if it applies to
you. When you finish, add up the numbers you have recorded.
Do you experience fatigue? 3
Do you have allergies? 3
Do you have asthma? 3
Do you have recurrent infections? 3
Are you under severe emotional stress? 3
Do you suffer from chronic pain or physical stress? 3
Do you have low blood pressure? 2
Do you have a low pulse rate (<70/min with no exercise)? 2
Do you feel faint when you rise quickly? 2
Do you experience depressed moods? 2
Do you experience joint pain? 2
Do you have muscle pain? 2
Do you have low libido? 2
Do you have hair loss? 2
Do you have anxiety attacks? 2
TOTAL SCORE _______
Less than 7 adrenal fatigue unlikely
7-12 adrenal fatigue possible
Over 12 likely.
Please send me your score and I will forward you the links for the professional testing in a pm.
Barring any infectious condition, you may do Dr. Barnes Basal Temperature Test, for low thyroid and low adrenal function.
Just do a search for it and make sure you follow the simple instructions to the "T"! Let me know if you need any details.

I had my adrenal glands checked and they were shown to be functioning normally. Is there a test I should take that might catch something that a normal test wouldn't? I just started taking a specially made anti fungal medicine that has no sugar or anything in it to see if I can rid myself of Candida. The candida is a big possibility in what might be making me sick. My blood test came back negative but I have had reoccurring yeast infections (once a month) and uti's for over three years. I do not eat any kind of sugar, honey, fruit, or gluten, dairy, soy, corn. I am on a very restrictive diet to try and starve the candida out!
I am interested in the adrenal tests though. Where could I go to get those done?
Thank you again for your help,
Erin
Hi Erin.
Your naturopathic doctor should have picked it up.
The bigger picture is called adrenal exhaustion. Your body is under continuous stress which has been overworking your adrenals.
Your thyroid function is also affected because of this at the cellular level, so TSH, T3 and T4 serum testing -according to "established" procedures in conventional endocrinology- is not only inadequate in revealing cellular thyroid function,it may also be dangerous as you may have have a thyroid dysfunction, without you or your doctor being aware of it!!!
Regardless of any attempts to correct thyroid function before addressing the adrenals, usually the result is worsening of the situation in the long term.
Only a knowledgeable ND or Holistic/functional medicine Dr. in this field may be able to help you .
There are various professional tests available to them to verify adrenal function, but if you need any information on this or an assessment questionnaire, I'll be glad to forward it to you
Another item to investigate is cross-reactive foods.
Basically, when the body creates antibodies against gluten, those antibodies also recognize proteins in other foods. When a gluten intolerant person eats those foods, even though they don’t contain any gluten, the body reacts as though they do, and these are called cross-reactive foods.
So, a complete food elimination diet might be necessary to rule this possibility out.
Have you ruled out leaky gut syndrome? If not, there's a simple urine test called PEG, which your ND can order for you.
You may want to do a self test for Candida also. Just do a YouTube search for "saliva test for candida".
There are other possibilities, but this should suffice for now, as I don't want to overwhelm you with information overload! lol!
I hope this information is helpful, however please note that it is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.
Let me know if you need any details.
Best wishes.
