teeth falling apart

I have fybromyalgia.  Recently, my teeth are just falling apart and out.  Does fybromyalgia do this or possibly lupus?
I have all the disorders thata go with fybromyalgia--colon problems, fatigue, sleep disturbances, restless legs, etc...

Well now I know what's happening to my teeth. Will over-the-counter B vitamins with D help or do we need medical intervention?

I am 44years old I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia, Spondolosis stenosis, Osteoporosis, I have also experienced loss of most of my teeth including the front teeth.  I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency,  vitamin B12, iron deficiency.  It's terrible to loose teeth mentally as well as physically.

Hi Judith.
Your deficiencies may be responsible for most of your health issues!
Vitamin D metabolizes calcium, so your body can use it.
When your calcium is low or unavailable due to low vit.D, vital processes, like buffering the blood to keep it at proper PH balance (if it becomes too acidic, it pauses a threat to your survival), the body "steals" calcium from bones, joints and teeth in order to maintain the integrity of your blood.
Please start a new post of your own and include more details about your
conditions and I'll reply with some more comments.
Best wishes

http://www.sjogrens.org/home/about-sjogrens-syndrome/diagnosis

"Sjogren's syndrome symptoms frequently overlap with or 'mimic' those of other diseases including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and multiple sclerosis. Dryness can also occur for other reasons, such as a side effect of medications such as anti-depressants and high blood pressure medication."

Sometimes too little saliva can contribute to tooth decay... as with Sjogren's which can indeed be secondary to Lupus and other things.  Both can have long drawn out diagnoses.  Definitely keep track of this stuff and mention it to doctors to build a record up.  The pieces might fit together eventually.  If there are some of the other signs/symptoms, document them too, even if they don't yet fit a "diagnostic criteria".

If you happen to have a sense of low tear & saliva flow, they can be measured.

Had a dentist appointment yesterday and ran the "theory" by him.  He said like sienna said, that low vit d could cause gum problems but not really tooth decay.

anyways just a little more info.

Gum disease coincides with alot of inflammatory diseases. Do your best at home with brushing (at least 2 min) flossing daily and using Listerine for a full 30sec. Make sure you are getting your teeth cleaned every 3 months and if you need to see a perio DDS make sure you do!

I too have seen a lot of new research on VitD 3 and autoimmune issues.  (ie:which comes first the defiency or the disease)

I agree with karajo that the research could also explain the teeth difficulties.

I have had a lot of trouble with teeth since age 2.  I have two implanted teeth and am getting my second crown tomorrow.  I too grind and clench.

I am throwing around the possiblity in my mind that there may be genetic link, then an environmental (low vit d in infancy/childhood) that may activate this weakness.  (autoimmune/CFIDS)

New intresting research out there.  I know the MS site is active on the vit d stuff too.  You can check their threads out too!

To Ket and Royce,

Sometimes a vit D deficiency goes along with fibromyalgia.  This can cause problems with your teeth.  I would suggest you ask your dr. to check your vit D level
