what medications have others tried

i was diagnosed about 8 moths ago but have had the illness for 6 years.  The specialist has put me on 2000mg of Gabapentine (an anti convulsion drug) as it can be used to treat the pain associated with the condition.  This medication has not seemed to make any change and so was advised that they were going to try Lamotragine, again an anti convulsion drug, on stopping the gabapentine i passed out and this has really scared me.  there are so many sites on here advising of different drugs that they use and just wondered if anyone would be able to let me know what has worked for them.     In need of help and guidance from people who know what this illness is like.

I had taken Cymbalta for depression once and noticed it relieved a lot of fibro pain the first day (this was coincidential and wonderful).  I'm nowt on Lyrica.  I also noticed a huge difference within the first day and I continue to take that for neuropathy and fibro.  Neurontin is another that helps, but it doesn't set in as quickly as Lyrica (Neurontin is cheaper).  I also take Ultram, but moreso for an injury and i'm not sure how quickly the doc. would have given it to me for fibro.

I've not taken either of the medications you indicate.  Since Lyrica is the first drug that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of fibro, you may want to try it and see if that provides some relief.  I'm not sure what other sites you visited, but be cautious of those claiming to have the 'miracle cure'.  Many times it's a matter of finding what works for you, but always keep your doctor informed of any type of vitamins or herbs you might want to try out.
