Cradle Cap

Cradle Cap

To those moms that have experienced this with their LO, how did you gals make it go away. I've spoken to my pediatrician about it and she just said to be patient. But I can't it just looks really nasty, it doesn't seem to be bothering her. If it helps she's going to be 3ms on the 19th. Thanks

My LO never got it.  My ped. gave me great advice when we went for our first appt.  He said to scrub his head everytime we bathe him even the soft spot.  He said it will keep the dry skin from getting matted on the head.  I scrubbed it and it looked like he had dandruff after every bath but it worked.

Our doctor said to use a soft toothbrush and brush gently with baby oil.  If it's really bad, it could be infected.

My baby girl never got it... not even what need_answers said.. i do however shampoo her hair every day 2ice a day morning and night, i guess that keeps it from drying up?? not really sure, but have you tried the cradle cap lotion they sell? i know babies r us has it... when i worked at the daycare a little girl got it and her mom did not careee but it looked disgusting... so we would take the baby during our free time and with a small comb and baby oil started peeling it... mom was grateful but never did anything about it herself...

Thanks Ladies :)
Its driving me nuts! I put baby oil on her head let it soak a little then proceed with a soft bristled brush and then bathe her to loosen some of it. It still looks like she has dandruff, maybe I'm just exaggerating..........thanks for the advice ladies. :)

Why yes I do. Do you think that shampooing everytime is causing it? I highly doubt its infected because her dr saw it and just told me to be patient, and that was pretty recent

idk it maybe, it depends on how sensitive her skin is... and what shampoo you are using... I use johnson's baby shampoo during the day and a disney honey and lavender shampoo at night. I have also known ppl who use body wash on their babies because it says head to toes... I personally dont agree with that so i use shampoo and body wash respectively... have you tried switching shampoo?? my little nephew had it and I just asked my sister what she did to help it and she said she switched over to aveeno for baby.. its a lot gentler and that may be whats causing her to have it so bad.. he had had it for 2 weeks before she switched shampooos and then only had it for a week more, reducing every time...

My son had this and I used head and shoulders when I washed his hair. I only gave him a bath every other day or maybe even every 3 days and would use a dab of it and scrub it in his hair. It completely helped and was not harsh on his skin at all!

I did the same thing, our son had a pretty thick layer of this.  We used Head and Shoulders for about 2 minutes, be careful not to get it in their eyes.  Then the day after did a baby oil treatment on his head, then took a light baby brush and it all peeled off.

Our pediatrician allowed us to use baby oil on it and then comb thru gently with the comb (fine fine toothed) given to us by the hospital and it came right onto the comb,

I just bought this as one of my birth supplies too that the hospital had given us with our first son just for this, and it was a sponge with the soft rubber bristles on the other side.  These are really good to use after you do the baby oil treatment.
