I don't know about this personally but I did find this article:

http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/aches/g6pd.html

This apparently is a genetically inherited deficiency that may not cause any issues, just one that you need to be mindful of. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to check in and see if you were able to find out anymore information on this?  I saw someone else had posted about this a little bit ago and I remembered you were asking he same thing.  Let us know any updates when you get a chance.

I am a 53 year old grandmother with G6PD. I take 5mg of Folic acid daily and eat lots of green and leafy vegetables. There is a list of medication that you get from the hematologist (you need one! ) that you CANNOT use!!!!  Also, no beans, peas, berries nor heavy alcoholic drinks. All of this information you will get from the hematologist. These foods and medicine break your blood and you can suffer from a condition where you will pass blood in your urine. Your blood check has to happen every 6 -12 months.

Hope this helps.
