Very much loved Oscar

I have a 6 inch Oscar that is sick.  A couple days ago he was found laying on the bottom of the tank..thought for sure he was a goner.  I treated him for ick and he is still alive, but not moving. He is able to hold himself up on the bottom of the aquarium, but has not moved from that spot since. He moves his eyes and fins every once and a while, but thats the extent.  He has some white fungas looking stuff on him and I am wondering if that is a secondary issue (FYI-prior to him getting sick there were feeders in the tank which I have now read is a "no no").  I am worried that even though he has pulled through (from near death), the stress may have been too much and I am just wondering if I may expect him to still die. He is my boyfriend's fish (a first time fish owner). He is in love with this fish and I am trying my best to save it for his sake. I keep trying to give him tips on caring for the fish, but he doesn't always listen (too many & too much water changes, too many feers in tank, ect.) which is frustrating.  Now the fish is so sick I am unsure what to do at this point.  Any tips on what more I can do to save this very sick fish??

Is it possible the ich treatment was an overdose?  This can be fatal. I had a roommate kill their oscar this way.  I am not a pro, but suggest you look into this as a possible cause.  Is there an aquarium store in your area?  Not a major pet chain they know nothing about fish.  You need to talk to people specifically educated in fish.  A good resource is also aquariacentral *******.  Now, as I said this is not professional advice, but if you can't talk to anyone else, and you think an overdose may be a possibility get the fish into untreated water asap.  Try to match the temperature of the water the fish is in and use your regular water conditioner/de-chlorinator.  Normally you wouldn't want to switch a fish into completely fresh water, but if the fish is od'd you need to get it in h20 completely clear of the medication in hopes that it can flush out the toxins.  Than all you can do is keep the room dim or cover the tank with a blanket and let it rest and hopefully recover.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hello. Hope your oscar's doing better. I was wondering about the fungus.... is it like slimy or cottony? If so have you tried to get anti fungul medication? I have had many fish that have had ick and fungul infections and have always treated the fungus first because the ick can kill but I personally have seen faster bad results from fungus. I hope your fish gets better and take care.
