Chipped bone in foot and now ganglion cyst

53 female-chipped a bone in my left foot skiing when 11-Crutches for 6 weeks-pain gone-20 yrs ago pain across top of left foot where shoe crossed foot-GP sent me to specialists-one told me I was too fat & shoes too cheap-I lost some weight & bought expensive shoes-still pain-not chronic, but tender & cut down walking comfortably-5 yrs ago bump showed up on left foot where pain always was--a hard mass with little to no movement when pressed-Orthopedic surgeon said ganglion cyst & had plastic surgeon remove it as nerves involved (sharp burning, stinging shooting down to toes)-Doctor noticed that right leg is longer than left by about 1/2"-3/4"-told I walked all my life with right knee bent & left knee hyper-extended & on tiptoe on the ball of my left foot-Prescribed therapeutic insoles with lift in left one, but too thick (couldn't hold the shoe on), so tried built-up shoes with built-up insole as well-With built-up left leg, right knee needed to straighten more-knee had torn cartilage from skiing accident at 15-pain in knee grew intense-arthroscopic surgery at 51 on right knee to clean up the cartilage that was catching--surgeon said was a mess in there & damage extensive-next step artificial knee-I put this off, because I was (& am!) scared-But affecting quality of life-put my name back on the surgery list-Due for knee replacement surgery in 1 week!-Now ganglion cyst back on left foot--Can’t get into surgeon (holidays)-I am worried-left foot is going to take all the stress while right knee heals---Maybe the chipped bone in left foot is cause of ganglion cyst? Or is cyst more likely cuz of leg length discrepancy? Or a combination? What do I do? Should I try to get to a podiatrist next week to see if she can drain it with a needle? Cyst hard--feels like bone really-Or, should I just see about getting it attended to after the surgery and put up with pain? Or should I mention it to the surgeon the day of my knee surgery, since I won't see him until then?

sounds like you have midtarsal joint arthritis and possible boney formation to the area.
an ultrasound can assess if this is a cyst.
aspiration of the area will determine if there is fluid in the area.
get a biomechanical examination by a podiatrist to see if orthotics can help.  if not, surgery may be needed.
