Foot pain

by rjheidi510, Oct 15, 2009 01:12PM
I dropped a dresser on my foot a couple months ago.  It bruised and the pain went away.  I could, however, still feel like there was a strain or something on the top of my foot about the 4th toe.  Every time I stretched it it felt really sore.  Now, over the last several weeks, I have started having more pain in that area of my foot.  The more I walk the worse it gets.  I end up limping from the pain, like I'm trying to shift my foot to walk so it doesn't hurt.  How can I tell if this is a sprain or a fracture?  There is pain when I touch about that 4th toe.  I just don't want to see a doctor for a sprain if I can heal it at home.  But if it's a fracture, I guess I can't take care of that myself.

Thanks.
