Is there such a thing as chronic athlete's foot?

I have been plagued with athlete's foot for years.  The skin on the bottom of my feet just peels off.  I am very active working out or playing tennis 4-5 days a week.  I change my socks at least 2 times a day  My doctor had me on Lamisil at first but it didn't work at all.  Then I was on Terbinafine tablets which didn't improve my condition either.  Currently I am taking ciclopirox cream and I still have had no improvement.  I'm beginning to wonder if I have something other than athlete's foot.  Can you advise?

i like ketoconazole 2% cream twice daily for 4 consecutive weeks.  after the treatment course,
try wiping the foot with stridex pads (2% salicylic acid) daily and applying petroleum jelly on them. they should clear up shortly after.
