Navicular injury

Hi I injured my left foot 3 days ago by dropping a cast iron frying pan on it..I waited until the next day to go to emergency and had x-rays done.
The er doc said x-ray shows a "crush injury" to the Navicular bone,he placed my foot in a half cast and I have a follow up appointment in 2 days with an ortho surgeon..I cannot seem to find any information on how they treat this type of injury..I am in little discomfort and can put some weight on it although I am to be non weight bearing and i am using crutches.
Will I be looking as some kind of surgical intervention or does this type of injury heal life a fracture..thanks for any information.

if the fracture is displaced, you'll need surgery.  if it is crushed badly, typically the bone is left alone to heal.  if the injury involved the joint areas of the bone, you would need a fusion to prevent pain if it occurs.
