My younger brother (19 years old) has had a numb toe for almost two weeks now. what could it be? What could he do to help it?

did he have injury to the toe? i would also ask if his shoes are fitting tightly. lastly, he would need to get a biomechanical exam to see if his gait is causing increase pressure on the toe during push off of the walk cycle.
