remaining swelling from compartment syndrome of the foot

My  teenag son had an emergency faciatamy on his foot due to compartment syndrome that resulted from a small surgery and a too tight wrap.    He had three long inscisions on his foot and was in the hospital for a month.  It has been 2 months since the surgery.  He is full weight bearing, no feeling or movement of his toes and no feeling on the bottom of his foot.  His ankle works but his range of motion is limited.  His foot is still very swollen.  I ws considering a sequsntial compressin device (SCD) to put on his foot at night to help reduce the swellilng. Has it been too long for a devise like that to help with swelling?

sounds like he may have had the nerves and muscles damaged from the compartment syndrome or the fasciotomy.  the damage probably is causing all the swelling.
if the wounds are all closed, i would recommend a compression stocking to wear.  the compression device you mentioned usually does well to remove fluids from the leg but less so from the foot...but, it's worth trying.  it is never to late to use devices to remove swelling.  but, most importantly...you need to find out if there is another underlying problem that is creating all the swelling.
