what would cause a shock on the right big toe? I had this happen two weeks ago, and it lasted for a couple of days, it went away and now its back again.

neuritis.  you may have impingement of the dorsal medial cutaneous nerve that provides a dorsal digital proper nerve to the big toe.
make sure you are wearing supportive shoes and that there are no pressure points to the top of the foot (from buckles/straps).
